Does anybody know anyone who has one and what is it like? I am trying to get my husband to get one but he is scared. I just tell him that if I have to deal with labor then you can do this and its probably more effective then me getting my tubes tied.

My father in law had a vasectomy and there's no problem I think...
Better go to your doctor and ask some details so you're husband will get some information about it and at the same time can raise some questions too.
According to them when you are into a birth control there's always side effects and for them it's normal...than having front effects...lol

My husband had one like two years ago, it really isn't that bad!! They gave him a shot to numb the area (but it didn't numb him completely so he could still feel it). And he was walking funny right after it but other than that he was fine!! He was ready to "get back in the game" if you know what I mean the next day!!

My ex-husband and my husband have both had vasectomies. They said it is a outpatient procedure, it is very quick and there is some tenderness the first couple of days, but you are able to go about your daily business after the first day. It is not scary and it prevents much worry in the future.

One of the fears is knowing what the doctors are working on, and waiting and thinking about it all before it happens! It's actually a piece of cake once it starts, especially if you get a doctor who will do it under a general rather than local anaesthetic!

My hubby had one about 3 years ago. He basically got to sit around for a weekend with frozen peas you know where and that was the extent of his recovery.
I'm with you. I refused to get my tubes tied. It's more expensive and higher risk and harder to recover from than a vasectomy.

I am going through the same thing with my husband. He is such a baby about this topic and have yet to convince him:( Hopefully sooner than later he will go through with it!

My husband had it done 10 years ago. His cousins, co-workers, even neighbours have all had it done. So has my brother-in-law. It is very common and no big deal at all. I thought it was funny when they put the funny underwear on him that they put on me after I gave birth! LOL!
I did go out and buy him a scrotum support at the pharmacy but that was about it. Like everyone else said, he sat on ice for a day, and walked like he had a pickle up his butt for a couple of days. It was nothing like what we women have to go through every single stupid month!

I would tell him to talk to a urologist. Most doctors can do it right in the doctors office unlike if we have our tubes tied we end up in the hospital for two days...My brother had it done and says it wasn't that bad as long as he kept the area iced.
