Recently, Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital, was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers..He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body A dioxin chemical causes cancer, especially breast cancer Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food... You get the same results, only without the dioxin So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else. Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead. What are your thoughts on this? I been using plastic in my microwave for a long time. I also use saran wrap to cover up my food in the microwave. Will this make you stop using plastic containers in the microwave now? or will you still use them?

I also have been using plastic wrap and plastic containers in the microwave for a number of years, but I can understand that they might give off chemicals to the food that is being heated or cooked. I really don't know if this is true or not. I got this from a friend of mine: http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/cookplastic.asp Please check it out...

Well, I never have heard of this one before and thanks for sharing this with me. I have used saran wraps and plastic containers to heat up my food in the microwave for god knows how long. So, I am not sure if I am save from getting cancer now or not. I don't know what to think of this one at all. But, it is a very useful information. Keep them coming, Babystary1.
