When was the last time you limped? And what was the cause?

This was something I was thinking about as I sat on my computer chair. I am sitting on my computer chair because it is uncomfortable to walk. Somehow I cut the bottom of my foot, and I have no bandaids. My efforts to tape toilet paper to the bottom of my foot have been to no avail. The last time the toilet paper fell off, one of my dogs ran off with it. So I'm limping. I don't want to put my foot completely down. I think it has been a while since I limped. So what about you? When was the last time you had a limp, and what was the cause?

I swear that I can just walk and sprain my ankle! That's usually the reason I end up limping. But last week, along with my lovely back pain, I ended up stepping really hard on a stupid piece of dog food and bruised the heck out of the arch of my foot. My cat LittleBit loves to pull pieces of dog food out of the bag and bat them all over the floor, and I think she leaves them right in the middle of the walk way on purpose. The little stinker!

I think it was when I had a loose piece of skin on the ball of my foot. I thought I could just rip it off. Well I ripped a chunk out and not a very big one....and it hurt so bad I could hardly walk for a couple of days!

Oh no! That is something I do too frequently. I guess that shows I never learn my lesson!

I must have had a wimpy pumice stone because mine was just irritating, not painful.

In January I had a nasty fall in a parking lot (darned potholes and highheels) I severly sprained my ankle and had to go to the ER and everything. I was on crutches for over a month. I still have bad days where the ankle is swollen and sore and I limp. I don't think it will ever completely heal.

Hopefully. It just boggles my mind that here it is 7 months later and it still has problems.

Yes, I agree. Maybe the ER didn't treat your ankle correctly in the first place.

Hopefully if it doesn't completely go away, it will gradually fade.

Ouch. If you have an ace wrap you could try using that to hold a bandage in place. Other then that you are kind of out of luck. I limp every day due to chronic pain. I know how hard it can be and how it can throw you off especially when you aren't used to it. I hope your foot gets better soon.

Aww thank you. That's nice to hear but don't spread it around. Might ruin my reputation of being a cranky lady. Well they say life never gives you more then you can handle although I wonder at times on that. I think there are times when it really pushes at the limits. Keep your foot up ok? Try to keep it clean because you don't want an infection there. Too easy for it to happen and you don't want that.

You're so nice. I just hate it that the nicest people seem to hurt the most. You and some other people on MyLot are evidence of that, unfortunately.

You could put a clean sock on your foot with a paper towel, or something, just to keep it clean. It's bad having a cut on the bottom of your foot. It could get infected so easily.

Three years ago I became almost completely unable to walk. I had an undiagnosed inflammation in my left knee. It has gotten better, we had lots of tests, and the best we can figure is it is arthritis, of course. I find that taking supplements and getting plenty of sleep helps it do better.

That is awful to hear. I have an aunt with something similar. I just want to hug her all the time to try and ease her pain. My mom has arthritis in her hands and sometimes she can't even hold a pen.

Last time I had a limp was a couple of years ago when I got a piece of glass in my foot. I got the glass out and it felt much better. I hope your foot feels better.

I thinkn I limp every day. Every time I get up from my desk I bang my leg or foot on something, or I bump my thigh into the corner of the coffee table in the family room. No, I'm not a klutz really. Being klutzy comes with having fibromyalgia so I could say it is that. But I can also attribute it to the fact that there is so much darn clutter in my house, especially around my desk. :p

My mom and I both have fibromyalgia, and my mom has especially suffered the 'clumsiness.' It tears down her confidence a lot, and I wish I could eliminate that from her disease, if nothing else.

I limp every morning, when I first get out of bed, and sometimes, all day. I have arthritis, in both of my feet, and in my knees. My right knee was injured, a year or so ago, when I fell off the deck. It's a high deck, about 4 and half or 5 feet high. I still have a piece of broken bone, in my knee, and it hurts so bad, sometimes that I can't stand it. When the piece of bone gets caught in certain spots, I can't bend my knee, and it's soooo painful.

AN operation, but that's costly, and if I were totally laid up and unable to walk for several weeks, who'd take care of kitties?

I have nerve damaged on the bottom of my right foot. So sometimes when it "flares up", I have trouble walking. I so don't want surgery, but that might be what must be done..:(

that is a hard one I think it has been a year since I limped but it was because I had sores on the bottom of my feet from walking through flood water.

Was it because of debris in the flood water, or the fact that your skin was easily tearable because your feet had been saturated with water?

Try double layering/triple layering some paper towels and use some cotton. Tape that together or put it inside a comfortable shoe or sandal. Hope it gets better. The thing will mend when you stay off of it, but whats out for reopenings. As for me, the last time I limped was when I was in a car accident. I smashed my right knee against the radio dashboard. It wasn't fun. Great thing I heal fast. I was over it within two days. I also have problems with my ankle but that occurred at age 4. It's not really pain but it can be reactivated if I'm not careful, like in sports.

Let's see, the last time I limped would have been about 2 weeks ago. A month ago I hurt my back, a pinched nerve actually. I developed a limp because my left leg went numb due to the pinching of the nerve in my back and I couldn't move the leg properly. For a couple of weeks, when I was able to get around, I limped along. As the nerve healed I was gradually able to use my leg properly and no longer have a limp at all.

Just a few minutes ago actually. I have DDD. That's Degenerative Disc Disease. I have 3 discs in my spine that are rubbing against each other degenerating them slowly. It affects my whole lower body. You know that tingling sensation you get when a part of your body is "asleep"? Well that's what my lower body feels like almost constantly. I need P.T. but my insurance only pays for so many sessions then it's like $150 each 45 minute session. So I haven't been there for some time. I do plenty of stretching exercises to aid in the pain etc but it will never go away. Surgery is a possibility but the Dr. said at my age (53) I'd need it again in 5 to 10 years time & it's not a pleasant time for a few months after surgery. So I just limp daily and live with the pain/numbness. Thanks and have a great day/evening as well. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I'm 26 and I went to see a surgeon about 5 years ago. He told me the same thing! That if I had surgery now, I'd have to have it every 5 to 10 years. He said take the pain until you absolutely can't. Yeah, I thought that was real helpful, LOL.

Oh that's sounds terrible! Dogs are easily amused aren't they? The last time I limped was a couple of days ago when I was sitting in an awkward postion and then when I went to stand up I had terrble pins and needles! You know the kind where your feet and half your legs go numb? ANd then the numbness starts to wear off and your feet feel like they're on fire with little needles attacking your feet! I don't think I"ve ever had an injury that's caused me to limp/.

Oh gosh it has been like over a year now...have I got a story to tell =) I was arguing with my husband (about something stupid I am sure) and I didn't want to be anywhere near him anymore so I go storming off through the house and I don't remember if he was following me still trying to talk or what but I storm out the front door and I am trying really hard to slam the door as loud as possible (real mature I know!!) but I don't get my second foot out the door, so my foot gets stuck in the door, literally. I actually completely closed the door on my foot!! I tried moving my foot to open the door but I had to open it with the handle and when I did I just collapsed on the front porch and I was screaming to my husband because it hurt so bad!! He scooped me up and brought me inside and looked at my foot, it was terrible!!! He thought I should go to the doctor but I didn't, it was pretty nasty though. And I limped forever it seemed like. From then on I have learned to control my temper better =)

I have been having pains in my knees off and on lately for some reason. I have arthritis in both of my knees, and I think it may be because of that. When I bend down a certain way, a shooting pain goes through my left knee. It hurts enough to make me sick to my stomach sometimes. When I get back up, I end up having to limp because it hurts to put pressure on my knee. My mom always nags me to go to the doctor, but I'm doctor stubborn.:P

Hi Hunny. I'm sorry you cut your foot. I wish I could hand you some bandages through this PC. Did you try wraping a towel around your foot n tieing it with string? You need to keep it clean bc you don't want it infected. I limp every day, every time I walk. I have a lot of health problems and cronic pain.

I understand. Months ago my back and legs acted up so bad I had to walk with a cane. But I'm not bothered by that all the time. And I don't know how I'd handle it if I had to. I hope YOU feel better and that you have a wonderful crash free computer weekend. : )
