It depends on how busy people are. I try to get back to people right away.

Some of it is timing, other parts of it involve your friends network. You also need to remember your discussions are posted along side some spamathon discussions that really waste space and make it difficult to find the decent or even good discussions.
I'm new here too, so I don't expect that much response to my discussions. Does that mean I give up? No, not at all. Also, the topics of discussion are important to the mylotters too. Even if you post something incredibly unique not everyone will be interested. Sometimes, it takes a bit of time for others to realize real gem discussions. Personally, I'll reply to 1-2 month old discussions if I think they are great (especially if I keep seeing discussions like "do you like s3x?" or "I liek ponies! Don't U?").
Keep at it Redcore, but also be patient. Build a reputation by responding to major threads too. It'll work out in the long run.

I guess it's because you had started your discussions wherein many users where not online. Target large number of users who reside in an area which has biggest population here in mylot then think of their available time when they might be online. YOu may also start a simple and relevant discussion to talk about, so many may be encourage to reply.

It depends on the post or discussion topic, i think people usually respond to discussion they've got something to say. i don't think it's the matter of just saying anything meaningless for the fact that you want more posts or earning something. the population too is great and it means everybody's got an interest.

Well, there are probably several reasons. First, the time differences. Right now it is 2:15am where I live in America. And you probably are very active on mylot when North America is sleeping.
The second thing is that I see you are fairly new (I'm going by your post count). When I first joined I hardly got any responses. I had to add friends to my friend list to start getting more responses. And once I did start getting responses, my topics would be listed in top discussion, and even MORE people would start to answer.
And the final thing is that not everyone has the same interests. Not everyone wants to talk about what I want to talk about. So the amount of responses you get per discussion can hinge on what your discussion is about.
