I think Linux is much better. I mostly use linux for development, since it's very fast. I don't have to install antiviruses etc. I can login as user, and change to admin (root) easily in command. Linux is not user-friendly, for those who get used to use Windows. But I think recent linux distros is very user-friendly.

Just because Linux is opensource makes it better. That means nobody can own it exclusively. It's hard to abuse it this way, you know what you get it's open for all to see.

Its not the matter money,it is the functionality that made us to switch to linux platform.if you have used any linux flavour you can find out the quality difference bet the two.one more thing linux is built in secured so no worries over net.You do not require pyracy when it comes free.

I use Mac OSX and it's superiour to both Linux and Microsoft, but if I had to choose I would choose Linux as it's far more powerful. But for the average Joe, I think Microsoft is better.
Let average Joe have his spyware and virus filled bloated and slow operating system. I don't even know what a virus is LOL, never seen one on my mac!

I think linux is probably a better operating system. However, microsoft i smuch more popular, and most programs are written for the windows operating system. Ltnux is also much safer, as i think people who make viruses mostly target windows.

"the one who uses Linux cannot afford microsoft" that was a really funny. It is not because someone cant afford Windows it is because Microsoft rip your pockets for system that is full off bugs, unstable and insecure. It nearly took Microsoft to make XP stable with their two service packs. They proved once again that they can create a high ranking unstable system through Vista. Seriously I feel none of the windows only users know the meaning of what a robust operating system and even I dint knew it until I started using Linux. The only problem is with the availability of commercial softwares on linux but still u get free alternatives.

You are correct that Microsoft's Windows does cost money. However, the fact that most Linux distros are free are not the only reason for their use.

The reason I went Linux (I've a double operating system in my computer) is because of constant spy-ware and virus attacks on my Windows XP system. There are Linux viruses. They are -very- rare and short lived compared to their Windows cousins. Trojans and warms have similar difficulty. This is because of the way Linux is set up, it is a hostile environment for a virus or other malicious bit of programming from outside source that hasn't specific root permission.

It may be for you since you're used to with it.But one thing I wanna tell you that if a person is using linux,it doesn't mean that he/she cannot afford microsoft. Please do not make such (wrong)conclusions.I was Paid MS user long time back but now I am complete linuxer just coz I can't rely on MS Software. Finally,I can only say its one's own wish what he/she want to use. But,for right comparison we should try every available option for a clear view. Thanks alot.Take care and have a nice time.:-)
Cheers!!
