playing fast guitar licks

Does any one here can play fast picking guitar licks? Just like Malmsteen stuff or Gilbert? We can share some ideas and techniques on how to achieve fast picking technique. For me, I use economy picking a lot. It helps me build real speed and variations by odd groupings of the notes.

I think the most important is how accurate your finger is. It is not just in a speed but in depth and choosing all of notes also.

Finger exercises everyday and the use of a metronome. Even though I like some of Malmsteen's work, I think he has gotten to the point where he is just making noise... really fast.

yeah, in fact, I only like malmsteen in terms of technicality and skills, but regarding musicality, gilbert is much better..
