What diaper rash ointment/remedy worked best for you?

Here they really promote desitin and balmex. But neither ever worked for my daughters. I have found that A&D brand works better for my little ones. It clears up a diaper rash very quickly and doesn't hurt them when its applied.

I used to use bordeaux butt paste (forgive me if I am spelling it wrong) but that worked really well and I also used A & D and that works just as well.

When my kids were little and had a diaper rash, I tried every over the counter medicine there was but none worked. So, I ended up trying something that my mother did...and her mother did. I took a little bit of flour and browned it in the skillet on low until it turned brown. It stinks really bad while you are browning it but it you open a window you will be fine. lol And you have to stand there stirring it until it browns - don't leave it or it can catch fire. Anyways, I would take the browned flour and place it in a shaker of some sort like an empty baby powder container, and shake on their butts when needed. It always cleared up diaper rash right away without costing much of anything at all.

For my son's RARE rashes, I usually use either aloe vera, desitin, or A+D ointment with zinc. For my tattoos, I know A+D works amazingly well. So.... A+D it is! Blessed Be

Nappy Rash Cream. - bepanthen
I don't know if it is available internationally, but my parents always used Bepanthen nappy rash cream (not ointment) for me, and it worked like a dream! It doesn't have the best scent, but it soothes and also clears up the rash very quickly. We've also found it helpful as grown ups for after-tattoo care, burns, chapped lips and sunburn. =D

I swore by desitin!! It seemed the most soothing and the easiest to apply.

Actauly, I found the best thing for diaper rash was to give the baby a bath with several tablespoons of baking soda then let tehm go a while with out a diaper. Couple this with avoiding acidic juices and foods that give them runny stools. Keep the area imaculately clean and dry. And of course, desitine works well when the child has a diaper on to keep the area dry.

What ever happened to that old stand-by, Boric Acid Ointment. My wife used to smear their little red butts with it and next day they would be just plain baby pink. Who needs expensive stuff??
