I am sitting here typing away and I hear this horrible noise. School has just let out and some kids were playing their music really loud in their car..The bass is thumping so hard and loud my ears were hurting..Why is this necessary? I wouldn't want to be in the car with all that noise. I would think they would be deaf...and those that play it so loud with young children in the vehicle..I just think it is so unnecessary!

One day my neighbor had his cranked and I had just gotten home from being in the hospital and was trying to rest. My husband went over and asked him to please turn it down and he did. He turned it off. I thought that was very nice of him.

I like good music too and I do play it a little loud but not anywhere near as loud as some..The bass just kills my ears. It has to damage their hearing.

i totally agree with you... i encounter that a lot as well... people switch on loud music in the car and open their wondow to let other people hear it... seems to me that they want to show off... me and my hubby dislike it so much... we straight away pull up our window because we just can't stand the noise... or the young children listening to ipod with a loud noise as well... they will damage their ears as times goes by i think...

I hate it when someone pulls up and the music is so loud. Or you are waiting at a stop light and have no choice but to endure the agony until the light changes.

I know some young adults who graduated from high school 5 years ago and still have the bass blasting away. A few of them have children and don't give it a second thought to it being so loud. It can damage their eardrums and not just the kids!

I feel sorry for the kids in the car. It isn't right to do that with small ones or anyone in the car. These people will slowly go deaf, and later on they will wonder why.

Hello Feona1962,
When I was just a teenager, I used to do that. The louder the better *laughs* I feel like whenever I listen to a 'good song' or 'good music', I want people around me to share it for free. I know most of my neighbors don't like it and alway think that I am a crazy teenager and deaf too maybe...but it is just ...nice to feel the music around you *laughs*
But now, when I have my own family and small baby, I always 'curse' whoever try to make us listen to their extreme music. I think they are crazy! *laughs*

You wonder what's going through their minds with it si loud. If it bothers us nad we can't consentrate it must mean they arn't ether. Some times when it's that loud not only does it hurt my ears it also feels like it's trying to control my heart beat. I know it hast to be damaging their ears. I worked where the noise was a bit loud and repatious and I know that I have lost a bit of my hearing.

They aren't thinking about long term hearing loss, which is a big shame..

I love to ride down the hyway with my radio cranked up on the songs I like. and my youngest son has extra speakers in his truck to make the music louder dont mind it if it has a good beat and not that o nand on and on music. But when you can hear it in your house from out side that is way to much .

in our country, we have a commuter vehicle called "jeepney". they also play music so loud they can't hear you when you're paying. maybe they do that deliberately so they won't hear you when you ask for a change. or they simply think it's cool.

That doesn't make sense for them not to beable to hear you are for you to hear them. I just don't know why they do it like that.

Unnecessary and dangerous I think. You wouldn't be able to hear sirens coming up behind you with the music up so loud! I know a couple of times I've had a good song up loud and then all of a sudden an ambulance/fire engine has come nearby and I thought 'gees lucky they weren't coming up behind me or I wouldn't have heard it!'
So I think it should be illegal to have music up higher than a certain volume. After all, when we drive we use more than just our eyesight. Hearing is a very important part of safe driving too, don't you agree?

I know what you mean, half the time you can hear the 'thump, thump, thump' of the music before you hear the car coming. I remember when I was younger, one of my mates was showing me his new sound system he'd put in the car, half of it was in the boot, that's how much of it there was. I remeber looking at it, thinking 'why?'! Personally, I like to be able to hear normal car noises, so that I'm aware if something goes wrong!

That is the reason most cities have a noise ordinance, Feona. If this is an everyday occurence in your area you could probably talk to someone in law enforcement and have it checked out. Some people have no consideration for others when it comes to playing music. They want it loud and booming and don't care who it is inconveniencing.

Lately it has been the teens driving from school that I find are doing it the most right here in our neighborhood. The highschool is just up the hill here and when it lets out, kids are everywhere, the ones walking are swearing and screaming and the ones driving are playing the music to deafing levels..so once 4pm rolls around the noise stops. Thank you worldwise.

I completely sympathise (sp?). People have a habit of driving down my street with their rap music turned up so high I could hear it for a while after the car has left my street. Once, I was lying in bed drifting off to sleep, when a car comes down my road with their music turned up so high I could feel my bed shaking. It is so obnoxious! Especially when they have young kids in the car, it doesn't do any good for their hearing to be damaged at such a young age.
Have a good day

If adults want to do it that is fine (it is their ears) but I feel sorry for the little ones..They don't have a choice..Thank you for your response...

I agree. They just don't realize what it is doing to their hearing. I feel bad for any little ones in the car because that has got to really hurt their tiny ears. Are the Bumble Bees keeping you busy? My noodleheads are doing just fine. Hugs to the bumbles from the noodles...LOL

We live one street over from a very busy, big main road. There's a stoplight at the corner so it seems like the thumping goes on forever. Some of these kids have the base up so loud that it vibrates the trunk. It sounds awful on the outside so I can only imagine what it sounds like from inside the vehicle. I remember the days when the cops would pull people over when they were playing their music too loud. Now they just seem to ignore it. Not that I would wish anyone to get in trouble for this, but they sure can't hear an emergency vehicle coming and they're probably not paying attention to the road.

Lucky they don't live where I do as they would get a ticket in a flash for disturbing the peace. The police here are on the look out for for these type of people.

I dont understand how they can put up with the noise. Its bad enough when my own kids have their music up. I am always telling them to turn it down. Unfortunately the kids today with the thumping music in their cars dont realise how much damage they are doing to their ears and will only notice later in life. I can remember when we used to go to all the loud concerts, and we thought it was really good. But my hearing isnt the best anymore.
Best wishes to you, feona

Oh I feel for you, living close to a school, Feona1962. I only have to deal with the neighbors kid and I just prayed and the last few days he has stopped. But now his Aunt does it...
