Have you ever lit a fire and it somehow got out control ??? What happened ?? I lit a fire in the backyard the other day and a freak gush of wind came and blew some embers on the grass. It lit the grass but luckily not enough to get out of control...The ground was still damp. A friend of mine the other week lit a fire and it got out of control...It burnt about 50 acres and 8 fire trucks came...It was so funny afterwards but in the heat of the moment it was so scarey..

I can see the funny side of that. Would have been scary though at the time. I havent ever done it. I always worry when it comes to fires. Its one thing that rally worries me. They are so unpredictable, as in your and your friends case. But at least noone was hurt. Best wishes to you, calais

Not quite. Though there was the time I lit the incinerator in the back yard, and being fairly full, it blazed really well, and then this piece of burning paper came flying out the flue and of into the sky. I stood watching it hoping like hell it was going to burn out before it touched down anywhere, and thankfully it did!! Do you think it will be a while before your friend lights any more fires?

oh yeah its scarey stuff when a fire gets out of control, i personally havent lit a fire and it got out of control, but my father was welding one day at the cattle yards and a spark hit the grass so he was sitting there watching it and thought its alright it will go out, and next minutes a gush of wind got it and it was on other patches of grass, before he knew it his friend had called the fire trucks and 3 arrived to put it out, luckily it went all good and didnt affect anyone else farm...phew

our neighbors lit a fire to burn rubbish or brush and it was a windy day - the fire quickly got out of control and burned through a good 5 acres of woods between us and came to within 6 feet of our house and the children's rooms.

I was returning from a Cinema at 1 a.m. and I noticed that a roadside shoe vendor's shop was burning. I had no mobile and hence I rushed to a hotel nearby and called the fire force. By the time I am back to fire affected area, the fire fighters were on their work, extinguishing the fire. I really admire their work at 1 a.m. in the morning.

We once lived in a tiny town (pop.5) and the owners of a large strip of land right across from us decided to burn their field. OMG, you should have seen the flames. We couldn't even go outside b/c the heat was so hot. I kept worrying that it was going to get out of control. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Sweety you must have gotten a scare - so glad it didn't get out of control! Your poor friend must have really been shocked! At first I was going to say nothing like this had ever happened to me and then i remembered that once when I was a heartbroken teenager I tried to burn some photos and cards from the source of all my misery and placed them in a metal wastebasket ... unfortunately the flames went a lot higher than I thought and I lost my duvet! Luckily I managed to smother the flames before it got out of control but I still remember that feeling of total panic - or at least now that you have dredged that memory from me I do! xxxx
