I need help on how to increase traffic to one's site.

Join blog listings, and make time to read other people's blog too. After I joined mybloglog.com and blogorama.com, my site count went up. Try making sure you have an interesting avatar for those sites. Another good thing about mybloglog was listing down the sites where people reading your blog actually came from. You may want to make sure your entries have appropriate tags. Lastly, join a daily meme. thursdaythirteen.com and fridaysfeast.com are some of the memes which bloggers flock. If you visit other peoples blog, and comment, most likely they will return the favor and visit yours too. Goodluck!

Two things: great content and patience. Some people take the shortcut and go ahead and pay for people to view their site. I think that this is a mistake. Sure, you can drive a whole lotta people to your site through this but how long can you sustain it? You can't keep payin people. Write what you know, write it well, be witty, and they will come. It may take a few months before your page is crawled, but the people who go there will be loyal. Also, link to sites that are already established and are pulling traffic. This helps with your ranking. Try RSS feeds, and don't forget to liven up your site with pictures and videos. Good Luck friend!
