Is it permissible to start any of our older discussion again?

Dear friends, is it permissible under the rules that we can re-write any of our older discussions? Suppose, I started a discussion 10 months ago, at that time it did not fetch me much responses, due to one reasons or another and I feel if I re-write that discussion, many of my friends are going to reply to that. Is it permissible or possible to start a older discussion again or is it not allowed? Please advice. Thanks in advance.

Iam even thinking of this idea for a while.I could see many of my old discussions eventhough of good quality have not reached many mylotters and one reason may be i didnt have a good friend circle as now in the beginning to support my discussions.Hope if i start them again i will get good response..for many discussions i have not marked best response due to lack of responses as those people who have replied are not active in mylot. I think we can give a different topic heading and modify the discussion content and post like new ones.I hope mylot will not delete it as it will have a different look.

Thanks Suba! what I understand from the replies received is we can re-start a discussion with some modifications and give it a new look and look for replies from our friends.

i think its ok to do it since there are over a million duplicate discussions on mylot. i know that mylot insist people read the previous discussions to see if the intended post has been discussed, but NOBODY is going to trawl through millions of post to check before posting. if they do, the person maybe able to post one article per month since it takes a long time to check every single discussion for duplicates before posting.

I think you can,of course I don't mean you copy and paste the whole discussion as it is but you can write about same point with different words......like a new one. I don't think is against the mylot rules except if..........you thinking report yourself of coping your own discussion lol:

Why not reword it and change it a bit, adding a new perspective to the topic? that might help, but be careful thought, not sure what the Mylot Gods will do about it in the end, it might work or it might not!

I risk getting this response deleted. See http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx In my opinion, why cry over split milk? Would it not be better if time is spent instead on posting new discussions instead of revamping the old one. I would not want to see everyone doing the same thing posting revamped discussions. I seriously consider that as spam.

I don't know for sure, but I think that you are allowed to start similar discussion. I can see no problem with it. You are not able to remember all your discussions that you started, so there is a chance that you are asking alomst the same question a couple of times.

Why not? Just make some adjustments to your content that will hopefully get a discussion going. Plus there are a lot af new people now.

Man that is a tough call, you could send the link to a freind and have them post to it. That will bring it back into action just like a new post. I have done that many times and a post that was left to set untouch for months, will get at least 5 responses after that one person replied to it, in the first day. So you may want to do that instead of reposting it. It's much safer as well, cause I am pretty sure if mylot sees it, they will delete it for being a repeat.

Thanks for your invaluable guidance and suggestion. I do the same, as you have written, sending a link to a new friend, if I feel she/he can contribute something.

Yes, you can do this, I dont see any reason for it not to be allowed...Im sure that it will not be word for word.

That's a good idea and I agree with about that, I just admit it that sometimes I run out discussion here and I thought discussion that sometimes I post it before. But I don't think it is permissable to do since I read before that we must not repeat post of discussion and we must not post discussion that are already exist. But for me It's a good idea. Have a nice day...

Hi, I think if your old discussion did not get any response then you can post it again with a new touch. May be this time you will get good response. Good luck.

If such discussion still fits and worth discussing, then why not. Me, as new a new member of this site, i want to know more of it. Maybe I could also share something.

Hi dpk, This looks like a nice idea that if a discussion didnt fetch any responses then after a period of time you can rephrase it better and may be getting more responses. I think mylot do not stop you from doing that. Yes you can put as many discussions here even if they sound exactly alike. I think i should also check out how many discussions came dud in past and try to put them again.

Thanks for your advice and this was an old discussion of mine, when I did not know much about mylot functioning since then I've come a long way.
