Whoa!!!..I salute for you my dear friend. What a good question from you for this discussion, sincerely. Mine very late because SMARTSHIP doctrines came to my blood when I was 40 years old. From that time always on strategy, tactical, operational and analytical(S.T.O.A.) for every problem thar shrouded my life. As well for any problem there will always opportunity in there.
Talking about self-confident, those elements(S.T.O.A) that confide me to be verve and plenipotentiary of energy gaining in my body to runs into the problems and "sort & solve" it in good enumeration.
So to gain self-confident we must have the tools of making confidence. What are your tools for your self-confident?
Thank you very much RED_BARON for providing this valuable discussion. Justly nice for me. And much appreciated.

Carefully and contemplatively thinking about my 22 years of existence, I am really quite inclined to say that I was perhaps able to effectively develop my self-confidence when I became engaged in highly competitive sports (i.e. basketball, soccer, swimming, table tennis, and badminton), which was during my grade school to college days.
This is so chiefly since I feel that my exposure to such very competitive sports made me very tough because I have to compete and outdo the competition, however stronger or tougher they may be.
Obviously, if I was not able to fully develop my self-confidence, I would naturally not be able to play basketball well and contribute to get a W for our team, since I would perhaps only fold in the face of mounting pressure from our competitors back then.
Happily, my exposure to sports also translated to my good academic performance during those times, since I was able to successfully condition my mind that every class was simply like a game, where I really have to play well in order to win.
Even losing our games made a positive impact on my studies, since I made it a point to avenge our defeat in our games by performing very well in class.
So, in a way, I truly feel that my self-confidence, which I probably began developing when I was, more or less, 10 years old (genesis of my romance with sports), greatly helped and thankfully continues to help me in dealing with any eventuality in my life.
I hope my insights could be of use in further deepening this highly interesting discussion you've created Red_Baron.

I think I had a lot of self confidence when I was younger but as older as I get, I am not sure that I have any more self confidence. But, I am sure that I have a little bit left here and there.
