There are so many different game shows that have been on tv, some lasting longer than others. As I thought of this question and began to think of my answer, I am realizing how hard it is to come up with a conclusion of my top 5. I guess the first one would have to be "The Price is Right." I watched that as a young child and loved the fact that you had to guess the price of the item you were going to win. That was a very neat game and Bob Barker was the best. I think it still comes on, but I haven't watched it for years. My second choice would have to be "Jeopardy." This is a great game for learning and I like to watch it to see how many questions I can get right. It's never many though. My third choice for favorite game show is "The Family Feud." It is a great game to get your family together and win money. My favorite part of this show was the final round. I love to see if I can get the answer for the most points. Fourth choice would be "The Newlywed game." Another show I watched very young, probably too young to really understand it..lol. But it was cool how you got to know more about your partner or figured out that you didn't really know them at all and you get to win a cool trip in the end. My fifth choice would have to be my favorite game show when I was a kid and my mom had brought the game for me as well. That would be "Double Dare." That was a fun game show and I loved the different things you had to do on a dare. The game I had was fun too. Well those are my choices and I'm sure I've forgotten about many other great game shows, but what are your favorites?

My top five are Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, The Price is Right, Family Feud, and the Pyramid.Jeopardy is my all time favorite. It is the best because there isn't any fluff. It is just questions and answers. Or should I say answers and questions.wheel of Fortune is a " simple' word game that you can have fun with. The Price Is Right is the longest running game show. It is more of "lets have fun" game show than an "improve your mind" game but that is okay. The Family Feud is good clean fun for the whole family. And I liked all of the hosts. In my area, the Spanish t.v. channel has their version of the Family Feud.It is fun to watch even if you don't speak Spanish. And last but not least, there is the 100,000 Pyramid. When I started watching I think it was the 30,000 but before it went off the air, it was 100,000.Did you see this one? If you hadn't, it was like a game of charades but you didn't act out the clue, you just used words as your clue.A contestant was paired with a star. And there were two teams. If you beat the other team, you got to play for the 100,000. The clues were in the form of a pyramid and if you got all of them, you would win the 100,000.it was on during the late 70's. It was fun.

Yes I do remember the pyramid show with the celebrities. That was pretty interesting, if I'm correct you had to depend on the celebrity to get so many right in order for you to win and you took turns answering and giving clues. That was a cool game. Thanks for the response.

Of course "The Price Is Right" comes in at number one, I also liked "Let's Make A Deal"... "Concentration" from way back and "Whammy- Press Your Luck!" was cool in the 90's... "Hollywood Squares" and "Family Feud" always made me laff, too! Here's a gallery of game show logos that will help you remember some of the good ones: http://www.gameshow-galaxy.net/ Great discussion- although I rarely watch TV these days! :)

Good question! My favorite was Press Your Luck. I loved the whammies! It's so funny if you watch a rerun on GSN (which I don't have), they'll be getting all excited about a $5,000 brand new car. LOL, GSN tried to do a spin off called Whammy! with Todd Newton as host, but it wasn't very good. My second favorite was the $25,000 Pyramid with D*ck (they won't let me post this with an 'i') Clark as host. I could watch that forever it seemed. I really started watching the show in reruns and got hooked. It also had a $10,000 Pyramid where David Letterman was a guest before he was famous. It's so funny to see that now. My third favorite was Supermarket Sweep on Lifetime. I remember coming home from college just in time to watch it. That really was on for a long time. My fourth favorite is The Price is Right. I just can't think of anything better than Bob Barker and that retro set. As for my fifth and final favorite? Let's Make a Deal! What other show could either give you a car or an ostrich!?

I have never heard of The Crystal Maze. Can you tell me about it?

The Crystal Maze is a game wherein a team of six contestants (led by a team captain, sometimes with a vice-captain) would enter the 'maze'. There are four zones in the maze ; the Aztec, Medieval, Futuristic and Industrial. Before each zone game, the team captain would choose which contestant would play and which type of challenge the game would involve. Games were classed as Physical, Mental, Skill or Mystery. These were typically puzzle games. The chosen team member would be sent into a chamber to play a game, and their team-mates could advise them from the outside (except in specific mental games where the team would be instructed not to confer). Successfully solving the puzzle would release a crystal. Each game was given a time limit. If the contestant failed to exit the chamber in the allotted time, or failed in such a way as to void the game, they were 'locked in'. Contestants that got locked in were unable to participate any further with the team and would not be able to enter the Crystal Dome unless the team captain chose to buy a contestant's freedom. This could be done at any time by forfeiting a crystal. In case the captain is locked in, the vice-captain takes over until he/she elects to buy the captain's freedom. After competing in all four zones, the remaining contestants went into the Crystal Dome, in which gold and silver tokens made of coloured foil paper were blown around from beneath the floor by huge fans. Their aim was to post into a clear glass container 100 more gold tokens than silver tokens to win; each silver token gathered would cancel out a gold token =)

Here you can buy scratch tickets to win a chance to go on this show to choose eggs. You have 2 people competing against eachother. In the egg there is a cash amount.Taking turns you flip over a card on a wall.It gives you an amount of money or a picture of an egg.You play until the first person to get 3 egg pictures goes in the final round of winning up to 100,000 dollars.People with a scratch ticket(audience or at home viewers)now have a chance on winning money. The person spins 5 big barrels and a number comes out of them. This is the winning number of the ticket. The person now spins a wheel with envelopes on it and chooses one, they can then decide to keep the money or go for the BIG GOLD EGG!!To take a chance on winning double, higher amount or less. Its on channel TQS(3)quebec,montreal channel.:)

My all-time favorite game show is Jeopardy! I watch it every night and really want to be on it one day. I love trivia so it fits me, it never gets boring for me. Second I think would be this local show called Academic Challenge. It has high school academic teams and is similar to Jeopardy. Actually i was on this when I was in high school, but we lost, lol. Third I think I would pick this show that was briefly on Game Show Network, called Grand Slam. It had all the big game show winners like Ken Jennings and they competed against each other. Fourth I'd pick VH1's World Series of Pop Culture. Fifth place is a tie between Family Feud and the old school Double Dare. I think I'd pick Double Dare though because I always wanted to do the obstacle course at the end, and pick through that giant nose to find the flag!

Jeopardy is a good one to keep your brain thinking and I know I always learn something too when I watch it. I loved Double Dare because of the physical challenges. That would be cool to dig up that big nose. I would've like to slide down the sundae slide and find the flag. Neat show. Thanks for your response.

Oh that's a toughy. I'm not a HUGE fan of game shows, but the ones I do like...I am a fanatic! lol. My all time favorite game show would have to be Family Fued...i think it would be SO fun to go on that game! I think my family would kick butt! ;P lol. Hmm...I like the newlywed game, I don't watch it as much as Family Fued, but really I don't watch many game shows that aren't on any other channels other than Game Show Network (I don't have it). I also like Match Game. And I'm pretty good at that game! lol. It makes me feel smart when I play along and match up! =P I'm not sure if this counts as a game show, but I like Whose Line is it Anyway? I think it's really fun(ny). And I watch it as often as I can. Okay that's only 4 but I really don't watch any others

Hello ranitam22, yes theres a lot of good gameshows on television and some I have watch eversince I was a child. My top 5 favorite game shows are: The family fued, I enjoy watching the families battling it out in a series of survey questions. Jeopardy, its very educational and the questions really hard. The price is right, I like that they give out big prices. Deal or no deal and the last one I recently just like to regularly watch, Are you smarter than a fifth grader. :-)

I've watched Deal or No Deal a couple of times myself, it is very suspenseful. Are you smarter than a fifth grader is okay. It is cool though to really test your 5th grade knowledge, but most of that stuff is stuff I learned but have just forgotten along the way from non-usage..lol

Wow, what a great question!..I guess I'd have to say my first choice would be: 1. Hollywood Squares,...very lively and funny. 2. Chain Reaction,... wish I could be a contestant on this one.... 3. Dog Eat Dog,... I love to see what they have planned for them to do and it's not easy. 4. Press Your Luck with the Whammy's...my favorite part is the Double Whammy's. 5. This is a toss-up between The Weakest Link and Jeopardy.....I like the guy on the Weakest Link better than the lady (can't remember his name but he's really funny)... I still watch these now as re-runs mostly and STILL can't answer a ton of questions.....there's another one too which I like...Cash Cab....Wow, I could go on and on, lol!....Anyway, great question, I just couldn't stick with five!....it was fun to answer.
