I was talking to a family member the other day and we were talking about birthdays. She was telling me she got alot of birthdays cards this year. And she said I got a card from so and so and it was card from the dollar store. So I just took it like she must look on the backs of the cards when she receives them. Wow I dont think that its important from where we buy our cards do you?

What memories this topic is bringing back. Many years ago the same thing happened to me, I sent someone a card and that person told me, "It's not a Hallmark"! Well, since then I have started a bad habit of crossing out the price on the back of the card and in tiny letters I print "Nosey B*tch". When and if someone remarks about my comment then I know they have looked on the back to see how much I paid for the card. LOL

Believe me your going to have fun with this. If I was to send out 10 cards I would say 7 will call me up in fits of laughter (that's a lot of nosey people). One or two will say, Oh, I accidently dropped the card and happen to notice it - yea right! LOL My best time to do this is Christmas when I send out many cards. Whenever I send a card to my sister as soon as she pulls it out of the envelope she looks at the back first. Hahaha

Thats kinda strange.Who cares how much the card costs. It is the thought that counts.I would rather have one from the dollar store than none at all from a person.Besides the dollar store has some really nice cards.

wow, i never do that! a card is a card! it's the thought that counts, not how much was spent! i know next time if u buy her a card, get a black marker and mark over the price! if she asks why then say oh i started doing it b/c its like a gift, u don't want to leave the price on there!

Honestly TerryZ I can't say that I look at the back of a card. To me it doesn't matter where they got the card it's the fact that they cared enough to get me one, and of course what the card says. I was always raised in the saying "It's the thought that counts!"

That is a good point AmbiePam, I could see a person looking at the back for that reason, but not just to look at the price!

Aww--now come on TerryZ --fess up...don't you look at the back of the card too? I think it's only human nature to do that....Generally I really don't care how much a person spends on a card for me--but heck, I do look anyway..hehe
I usually get discounted cards myself though, cause lets face it...Hallmark is too darn expensive!! LOL

LOL that's funny AmbiePam...I happen to have a large Hallmark store near me...I go gaga over everything they have during the holiday season, but its SO expensive. They have these cute figurines of Tinkerbell, and honestly every time I see them now I think of gabs!! Our Tinkerbell of MyLot--LOL

I have never thought it. Ialso have not noticed it that i can see the store on the back. I used to get a lot of birthday card while at school and college and University and I still have those as i often use them in my crafting adventure and they are real good for decorating. But i never have tried to see where the person bought it. She is a lot smart than us, seems like i am going older

Cards are so expensive nowadays, that I think buying from the dollar store is just being frugal. Perhaps there are some who think getting a Hallmark card is more prestigious! LOL

Why should it matter where you get your cards from--- most people just throw them away after reading them- why spend a lot of money on them. I make my own cards on my printer (I like them to be personal with pictures of my boys on them)- I can just imagine what people like that would say about me....LOL

We usually go to Walmart, Safeways, or Zellers to pick one up and look at the pretty inscriptions. After that, we look at the price, and say, "that much?" but we wind up buying it anyway. I do not think it matters where one gets the card, but I suppose maybe the family member buys her cards at the Dollar Store and recognized it. (I suppose the number at the back ended at 100, so she drew her conclusion from that.)) But why did she mention it. Did she infer the one that gave her the card was a cheapskate?

I never look at the back of the cards ever. Its whats written on it that means a lot more than how much the card cost.
Its sad for her though, it means whoever is sending her cards is not even putting much effort into buying her a special one... I mean if it was for my parents or siblings, i buy a nice one, not one from the dollar shop.

Hi TerryZ! I am not the type who looks at the back of each greeting card when I receive one. The first thing that usually catch my attention is the design. Then I usually look first from whom it came from, then the message. What is important for me is the message on the card. It really doesn't matter to me if it came from a classy store or if it is expensive, what matters to me is what the sender is trying to convey to me. Take care and have a nice day.

Instead of the dollar store, why not chose one form the 10,000 at www.sendoutcards.com/35720 and you can personalize it, add a signature and we print and ship it for less then $1.00.
Save time and money.

I really don,t think the the price of the card really matter. A lot of cards from the dollard store are really pretty. Most of the time I buy all my cards at wal-mart because I'M always there, but sometimes, If I'M in the dollard store, I will buy it there.
I never took a look at the card I receive to see where they are from.

i generally make my own cards because like your thinking, most people throw em out! so why waste the money?
over the years i have invested in rubber stamps and the like and use them often! people seem to like them and i also make my own gift tags! (there are so many cool stickers etc out there now!)

Wow, when I read things like this I find it hard to believe that people are so shallow! I have met people like that in my life as well. When I am in their presence and see them look at how much was spent on the card I can't help but wonder what they are thinking? What are they thinking? It never dawned on me to check the price of a card until I saw someone else do it for the first time and then I vowed right then and there never to do it. I think it is dreadful!
