When you post a discussion, do you wait for a response before posting again?

When I first started on My Lot, I was so eager for responses that I would actually wait after posting a discussion to see if anyone would answer. Sometimes I'd wait an hour or more just for the first response. It was agonizing.
And, then I learned that the response time varies depending upon who is online or how often your friends check their emails for update notices. So, I stopped waiting. Now, I try to post a discussion and move on as quickly as possible. And, then later come back to follow up on discussion responses as best as possible with the time I have left online. It works for me.
So, do you post a discussion and then wait for responses so that you can chat with other My Lot members actively? Or, do you post one discussion and then immediately move on to posting the next discussion so that you can maximize your time online? What works best for you?

Like you I will move on right after I submit my discussion. I feel the more time you wait the more money you loose. I will check back to my discussion often to see if there are any responses but I dont let my "working" stop because I am waiting for a response to my discussion.

Finally! Another member that actually considers My Lot to be work. I thought that I was the only one. Not enough of us to go around, I am afraid. Sure it's nice to chat with friends. But, there is certainly money to be made, so no time to waste sitting around waiting. Can always come back later. Nice to chat with you.

I'm taking it like this too. Sad part is though, I don't have that many started discussions under my belt (yea yea I'm a newbie, whatever ;p). So anyone checking discussions sheet won't have that much to go through. My responses on the other hand. Break out the reading glasses.

Wow! You consider yourself a newbie? You almost have 1000 posts under your belt. You must be referring to the amount of time that you have been on My Lot. By the time I was here two weeks, I had almost 500 discussions and responses posted. And, after one month, could no longer call myself a newbie. I felt so old by then. At least my fingers did.

Hi peanutjar! I love Elmo too. Had not thought of using email telephone ring for my emails. Where did you get yours? Could you share the resource? Would love to use one too. As is, I have to remind myself to check emails often. And, sometimes I forget. A telephone ring would be a nice way to remember.

Well I used to do that, but not for long, I would post a discussion and then be all excited to get the first response. But then later I realized the same thing you did, that people might not be online and there's no point wasting time in just refreshing the same page again and again, while you're waiting for someone to respond.
I just move on now and check back 5 minutes later to see if its gotten any responses, usually it does, and that's great. But it also depends on what kind of discussion it is, if it's something that people will really have to think about, then it would probably take longer than 5 minutes.
I usually don't start a lot of discussions myself, I used to a few weeks back, when I started writing down any ideas that popped into my head, throughout the day. Otherwise, my mind goes blank when I come in to start a new discussion.

I usually move onto the next one and if I get answers then cool. SOmetimes when I post a discussion, i sign out and think to come back in a few minutes to check if anyone has answered my question, but then I don't end up coming back on until hours later.

i totally agree with u. i've joined this site recently and d one thing i've understood perfectly is dat however good or bad my discussion is, i cannot afford to wait for replies. after all, i cannot stay online all day. i spend a couple of hours everyday on mylot and if i wait for an hour just for a reply, when will i post. it will take me decades before i even get my first payment. its definitely better to start a discussion and move on. and when there's a reply, we can always get back to it.

At first I started waiting for someone to respond to my discussions but i soon realised that if I carried on that way, I wasn't going to get anywhere lol.
Now i just get on with it and find other discussions that interest me and then go back to the discussions i've started later on because then I don't get bored waiting around and I get to 'meet' more people :)

I don't start discussions very often, but when I do, I usually go and check my friends' discussions for a while, before going back to my discussion I just started. There are usually a lot of good discussions that my friends start that I want to respond to. So I take advantage of the time I have free to do just that.
The only way I would wait on a response to one of my discussions is if I was busy doing something else anyway. Like if I was trying to get caught up on email or something, I might wait for a bit. But usually even then, I am jumping back and forth to mylot, looking for something good to respond to.

No, i donot wait for any response. I just type opinion and close the topic. I just go through the other discussions mentioned. I feeel i have to reach my target and is fully dedicted to respond to the topics i like. Posting such discusiions enables more thunking, knowing about our idea. etc,. and main thing is it enables to earn money. a type of pocket money.

I don't wait for a response before posting again. After I start a discussion, I would start posting responses. After posting like 2 responses, I would go back to see if I have got any response in my discussion! I am always happy to have a fast response *smiles*.

Hello beautyqueen26,
I don't wait till I get my first response to start another new discussion. I seldom post a discussion but if I do, I will start to post a few and then move on to respond to my friends' discussions. I always open a few pages for My Lot and concentrate responding/giving comments to all my friends here. I feel so much happy whenever I received a new response from my friends for my latest discussion and sometimes don't really know when to stop giving comments to them *laughs*

I use to be eager with my discussions. No more. I'm just gonna leave them and then come back to them. Kind of like long range relaxation fishing! Just cast and wait. But in this case I can go do some other things too, like respond to other people's threads.
