I am in the process of reading the 3rd installment of Stephen King's Dark Tower Series. I know this is not the way it is usually done(I have finished the series), but I missed 3 of the installments on the way to finishing them. I have found that I am still filled with interest in these stories even though I already know the final outcome. That is a rarity for me. I usually cannot stand knowing how the story ends before I have read it through. Can you read installments out of sequence and still enjoy them?

Stephen King's Dark Tower series was one of the best series of books I have ever read. Was a bit disappointed the way it all ended, but well that's Stephen King for you..lol! I can't read a series of books out of order otherwise I get totally lost and wondering what the heck is going on within the story. Although I still enjoy the book it just drives me batty to do things out of sequence.

I'm surprised my books are still all intact as much as I have re-read the Dark Tower series. Oh and It Came From A Buick 8. Thinking about it though I think that is what my library of books mainly consist of is Stephen King books..lol The Witches of Eileanan by Kate Forsyth is a pretty good series to and one that I recommend reading if you are one that likes fantasy.

Yes, jeweled, it usually affects me the same way, however, I am such a fan that I find it easy to pick up any book by SK and soon become lost in it. The knowledge that I had missed so much of the middle of the series led me to go back to the beginning. Once I finish the 4th, I will reread the final three.

I was reading that series years ago. Then I forgot about it while waiting for the next book to come out. I don't even remember where I was at or how many are left to read lol. But I'd still love to finish it. I remember it was a really thick book, and kinda boring, went back to when he first met or was dating that girl....dang, I'm probably gonna have to start the whole thing over again... But, I can still read them out of sequence, I usually try not to though. I hate knowing the ending before hand :) I like the surprise/suspense.

I had read the first one many years ago when my daughter gave it to me for a birthday present. Several years later I think I read the 4th in the series. It was only last year that my interest was reawakened in the books. I have read 5, 6, and 7. Now I have started all over and am on the 3rd. It's really possibly his greatest work.

That was Wizard And Glass. It was the last one I read. Now I re-reading the series so I can pick it up where I left off. Force

I started reading the first one for the first time about 2 days ago. To me its like no other book stephen king has ever done. It's more like a Fantasy rather than a Horror. One of my friends has read them all and Nagged me to start reading them. Now I am just over halfway through the first and am already ordering the 2nd and 3rd. And Also Praying no on ruins the end for me as my friend says its a very good ending.

I suppose you COULD read the Gunslinger series out of sequence and still enjoy each individual book for its own sake - but to read them in sequence - and I have - takes you on a journey with stephen King's characters that is truly amazing. If I were you, I start again from the beginning!
