I'm so tired of getting passed on the highway.

While driving on Interstate 95 southbound in Connecticut, I was startled to see a complete wheel and tire pass by me. I looked in my rearview mirror to see what had happened. There was not another vehicle on the road with me. A few hundred yards farther along my truck just dropped the front drivers side axle onto the asphalt. As I got out to survey the damage I suddenly realized where that wheel and tire had come from. My truck. A State Trooper stopped to offer assistance. I asked him if he could go back up the road to get my wheel and tire. He also knew of a junkyard a few miles from there. I ended up getting a drum brake assembly so I could fix the problem on the side of the road. When I returned home, I discovered why this problem had happened. My Dad had borrowed my truck, got a flat tire, changed the flat tire, and only put the lugnuts on finger tight. The reason that the truck went so far without a wheel and tire was because there was a big load of bricks in the back, which made the front end not have much weight on it. What's the strangest thing that has passed you?

oh my goodness! hehe. That is a crazy story! Lucky you had that cop to stop and help you! I've never actually had anything like this happen to me, no really strange things pass me. But I do have people pass me on the wrong side of the road a lot, and it isn't my fault. I go the speed limit, and sometimes when peopel tailgate me real bad I'll go a little faster. But a lot of times jerks will just go on the wrong side of the road and then go in front of me! This happens a lot on my way to and from work, and I usually have my cat in the car so I don't want to speed, but they never seem to care about other people!

The stranges thing that has passed me while driving happened last summer in Jacksonville, FL. I was on my way to a job site when a yellow chevy pickup came pass. I didn't think much of it at the time but then I started to smell something like it was burning. As I looked at the pickup again I saw that its bed was engulfed with flames. The driver of the truck was ok but the whole truck was in flames in a matter of minutes. I pulled over to see if he was ok and call the fire department. It sure was scary for both me and the driver.

That's happened to me as well. I had my license for 4 days only. I was driving my first very cute bright yellow mini and a woman came through a stop sign and took off my left rear quarter panel. The car went to the shop and it was taking an age to fix. My husband rang and complained and said he would sue them if the car wasn't ready by the next day. (He wouldn't have).
When I went the next afternoon to pick the up after work and collecting the kids they were still finishing it off. It was jacked up and the tyres were on it...it took only a few minutes then off we went and we were travelling home along the highway in peak hour traffic. The car was making a weird noise but I was inexperienced then and thought it was something to do with the repairs. I turned right off the highway to go home and a tyre was bouncing along the roadway beside me on the footpath. As it bounced back on to the road and crossed in front of me the back left end fell to the ground and dragged...tearing off the metal stripping and making a new mess of the repair. It was very scary let me tell you. The girls were crying and I was a bit of a wreck. All I could do was be relived it hadn't happened on the highway...it could have been really bad.
We were in an industrial area but it was late Friday afternoon so I didn't expect anyone to be around. There were no mobile phones back then. Luckily, a couple of guys were around and had seen what happened and came out to me. They rang my husband and all was well. Although waiting for im to come seemed to take hours. I thought he would be angry at me. I still was an inexperienced driver.
It turned out to be an unforgettable experience. Years later, different town, different car, I was being harrassed by some friends of my daughter. They had threatened me and my dog with harm. I was driving home from work one afternoon after having been parked in a car park all day and I heard a noise. I immediately recognised it as the same noise my mini had made when the wheel nuts were loose. I pulled over and sure enough they were very loose. I tightened them up and arrived home safe and sound.

Well, this didn't happen on a major highway but rather on a main road. I was doing about 25 because it was snowing pretty hard and happened to catch something out of the corner of my right eye. I was passed by a moose galloping along the breakdwon lane. He went about 50 yards ahead of me and galloped in to the woods.

Wow strange story! At least you are okay mate.
The strangest thing that passed me. A pickup truck with a screwed up engine and muffler. Deep black smoke came out of both and it obstructed everyone's vision on the freeway. I decided to pull to an exit and let the clown further ahead, because even with my eyesight, visibility was tough. And I can only imagine how bad it was for those with normal vision.
