Are You Sitting Comfortably For My Most Recent Tale?

Last Sunday, I went with my Son, his family and my eldest granddaugher's boyfried to Buchan Country Park. This was probably my third visit here, but never before have I taken in the beauty of this place. I've always been yacking to my Daughter-In-Law whilst walking around the lake, and never really noticed the magick of the area.
Buchan Park is between Crawley and Horsham, in West Sussex; a part of St. Leonard's Forest, which stretches from Kent to Hampshire through the land between the North and South Downs, known as the Weald. Saxons inhabited the Weald and drovers walked the forest with their pigs; there were iron foundries, charcoal burning camps, and the Sussex Castles were linked. A part of Sussex's ancient history lives on here and whenever I enter a part of this beautiful forest, I can feel the energies. So... last Sunday, we decided this was the place we wanted to go, and walk.
The lake, as I call it, is a large hammer pond, amidst numerous species of trees, including predominantly oak, pine and silver birch. There are clumps of heather growing amongst the trees, and wildlife is abundant.
We crossed the boundary into the Park, by walking around a wide, intertwined leaf, carved gate, walked aound the Wild Garden, which contains a number of yellow dragonflies, a small wildlife pond, an archway and domed shaded area made from willows and a long log with a Green Man carved into it.
Then, we exited this part of the forest and continued up the hill and over the bridge spanning the main, Horsham to Crawley Road, into the thick of the forest. The next thing we encountered was the large lake or hammer pond. This had a boat shed at the north-west corner, with two brick castle turrets, one either side of it. A squirrel sat on the top of one of the turrets, boldly nibbling on an acorn. lol. As I approached to take his picture, he scurried up onto the roof, then up a tree, out of sight. Then, my Daughter-In-Law and Granddaughters pulled out some bread to feed the ducks on the lake. Don't ask me where they all came from... they appeared from every direction... lots of them. I stood a while watching, and taking pictures, then wandered on to a bridge, which spanned an overflow for the lake. The overflow had two turrets at the top entrance, then was built down into the valley, in big steps with turrets at intervals. Wow... naturally there wasn't much water in the overspill area but the steps disappeared into the trees and down into a small stream in the valley. We walked the rest of the lake edge, through trees, a log carved into fish in the waves and a standing tree carved into the Horned One, Herne... or that's who I think it was. On occasions, there were heather patches in full bloom, and we were lucky enough to see lots of squirrels and rabbits, as well as birds and dragonflies.
I won't elaborate too much because the post will become far too long to read. Suffice to say, we had a very peaceful and pleasant afternoon walking in the forest, which had once been used as a charcoal burning camp and iron foundry. Another enjoyable Sunday, at one with nature and our ancestors' habitation.
Had I walked this land before? I'm not sure, but I certainly felt at home here!:)

Thank you Lakota. I sure wish you could win that lotto too, as I would love to show you some of these places.
I think if I have walked these lands before, then times would have been harder in some respects, but oh so much more satisfying than in this day and age.
Brightest Blessings, and here's another pic as you wish to see more.:) xx

Yes, I guess like me, you feel the energies in certain places, and the pull, back to those spots. It's my intention to rove a large part of St. Leonard's Forest, it's so beautiful. I believe even the New Forest is a part of it. I just like the solitude, especially at blue times in my life.
Take care, my friend. xxx

I often wonder why they have "The 7 Wonders Of The World" when obviously there are many wonderous places to roam. It sounds like a beautiful place to visit and relax. It's good you were able to explore and that you know some of the land's history. Thanks for sharing your story.

I hope you're able to get out and venture to the County Park in Hastings. I love venturing out to places I haven't seen. Last year I traveled to The Big Apple in NYC and was bitten by the travel bug. Now I would love to see the world. Well most of it anyways. Thank you for giving me the honor to share your story my friend. Have a magnificent day.

Yes, I love all these historic things. In fact, I lived in Germany for three years, yet there's one thing I'd like to see which I still haven't, and that's the Bavarian Castles.
I think they're beautiful, especially the ones on islands in the middle of lakes. The conical roof features remind me of a place about a mile from me, in the north end of the village, Wykehurst Place, in Wykehurst Park. It was built by a Swiss man, Hutt, and has been used for the Hammer House Of Horror Films. Here's a picture for you.
I hope you get to do what you dream of, and travel the World. I've visited the western side of America, when I went to Salem, in Oregon. It was beautiful there, very countrified, and I adored the Oregon coastline and the colour of the water. Also, the mountains and waterfalls are amazing.
Brightest Blessings.

It certainly is a beautiful place and yes, when you visit, it relaxes you and makes you realise how lucky you are to have the gift of life. They have a Centre there with lots of information on the history, plus a High Weald newspaper, which is very interesting.
I feel the Seven Wonders of the World were only areas which were adored by certain people, and verified as outstanding places of beauty, and agree that some local places, particularly places of natural beauty like the Forest, are of equal value to us. There is another Country Park in Hastings, which I am contemplating visiting tomorrow if the weather is fine. I've never been before and it's not so far to travel.
Brightest Blessings and you are quite welcome to share my story, my friend.

I'm still quite pensive and trying to clear the clouds of doubt from my mind, my special friend, but the receipt of an unexpected postcard this morning brightened me somewhat. I have this kind of spiritual connection with the guy concerned as I'm sure you well know from the first time I visited you, and the events which unfolded, so, am sure that he perhaps knows there's something weighing heavy on my mind. Bless him.
As for the day, yes, I enjoyed it immensely, especially as it's Autumn now and there's so much more to see. You take care, sweetheart... Brightest Blessings, love and hugs. xx

Awwww, thank you Kay. I love to take you with me, and I can almost see you sitting there with your feet up, whilst reading and putting yourself in the Park by the power of imagination. :)
I took a pleasant stroll along the undercliff path on the South Coast, last week, just as the Sun was beginning to set. I will tell you about that shortly. Take care and Brightest Blessings, my dear friend. x

Hi Darkwing..I am back after working through the tragic loss of our Mylotter Tammy and her husband Rob's tragic passing. I am also keeping my candles lit and joining your circle of friends to send healing and energetic support to Lakota.
I wanted to see how things have been going with you and was delighted to read another one of your 'show rather than tell' walk abouts through the lovely area that you described. You do it so eloquently..that I could imagine myself there with you. The lake..the ducks...the heather...mmmmm...sounds like an enchanted place. Thank you for letting us share the experience with you.
Take care...we are linked my Soul Sister...whether we chat or not...I feel the bond and the understanding we share.
Wishing that all the good you offer to others enriches your life in all ways that are for your greatest good.
Warm and loving regards,
Raia

Hi Raia! It's good to see you again, and I'm glad you enjoyed my walk. Since you sound to like heather so much, I've posted a view across the top of the Forest through a heather patch.
Thank you for continuing the burning of candles and sending of healing energies to our dear friend. I too am continuing until things at least begin to get better. As you say, there is a bonding and it will only increase our powers when put together.
Brightest Blessings... my time out now, but I'll see you again soon. Keep the peace of the Forest in your heart, as I do in mine. x

I am glad that you enjoyed your trip and seen the beauty. I always enjoyed the walks back home where I grew up. We live by Lake Michigan and the walkd in the wooden areas and the beach somedays I can still close my eyes and see the dunes and how the air smelled. It is nice to get close to nature sometimes.

Nancy my friend, you too have some beautiful places to visit on your native island, although I doubt there's much there which you haven't yet combed. You live in a truly magickal area, which I love to visit from time to time, and how about the New Forest? I believe that might be a part of St. Leonard's Forest too, and that place is full of energies and also, not far for you to travel. The animal habitat there is wonderful, the deer, ponies, badgers and squirrels, as well as the birds and other miracles of life.
Brightest Blessings for some happy walks, my friend.

Thank you for taking us along to what sounds like a faery tale land. It felt as if I was there. I especially liked your line, "Another enjoyable Sunday, at one with nature and our ancestors' habitation. " I can just imagine you telling tales in front of a fireplace on cold winter days. I will be sure to look back your other discussions to see if you invite us along on similiar journies.

Lol, Artemins... perhaps I missed my vocation as Winter's Day Story Teller. In fact, I used to do exactly that at Christmas, when the kids were small, or family was visiting. I'm afraid I take quite a long time to tell a story in conversation because I don't like to miss even the minutest detail. I strive to do exactly what I seem to have done with you... make it sound like a faery tale. In fact, a couple of my discussions include faeries. lol.
Brightest Blessings my friend, for a great day!

Hey Doll,
Great adventure you took us on.
Do you think you were here before?
I certainly know what you mean about feeling at home at different places.
I have had this experience many times..
even having flashes of things happening in the far off past.
Hugs

Yes, I really do think I was here before, as certain places call to me to go back. Then, when I'm there, I feel the energies and really don't want to leave.
Also, not unlike you, I have had flashes of being amongst people from long ago, and even of close friends I have now, in this life, intimating that they too were here in a previous life, whilst I was. All this helps me fit the pieces together, and know where I'm headed next, and possibly, who with. I know it sounds strange to some, but also know that you understand what I'm saying, and don't doubt me for a minute. I feel I can talk to you about almost anything and you will understand.
Brightest Blessings my friend. xxxx
