What things bring a lump to your throat?

I got to spend a couple of days in the beautiful city of St. Augustine, Florida this past weekend. There is a huge area that is a Catholic graveyard from the 15th to 18th century. In the 1960's on the 400th anniversary of the settling of this city, the townspeople raised this cross that stands over 200 feet tall. The grounds were so lovely and serene with many trees, pond, bridge and this cross. It was cloudy while I was there and I stood under this cross and looked up and felt so much emotion while I was there. I thought about my faith and how much it means to me and how blessed my life has been, that I started to cry.
What kinds of thoughts bring strong emotions to you?

The Easter Triduum Masses always get me.
Also, random acts of kindness, and the tenderness of a child.

Seeing a soldier in uniform holding the American flag, ALWAYS gets me. I just could never express how much I appreciate their sacrifices, and the ones of their families.
Also, when I'm at my grandparent's house, and my grandma is out of the room, so my mom and grandpa will be talking. She'll take his hand, and they look at each other so affectionately, and I know, her time with him is soon up. And that brings that lump right back to my throat.

I had the privilege of living overseas for several years and I really learned to appreciate the US. I still get lumps when I see a flag being raised or lowered. I agree about watching people who love each other too. Thanks for the reply.
