What type of sausage do you use on your pizza?

About once a week, I like to order a pizza with Italian sausage topping on it, along with a few of my other favorite toppings like mushrooms, chicken and onions. And, then I smother the entire thing with my own basil and garlic spices. It's to die for! I just love the way Italian sausage tastes on pizza with all the mozzarella, tomato sauce and cheese. It's almost like pasta (my other favorite) on a bun. But, I've never liked the regular sausage variety, so I rarely get it as a topping. Most times the pizza menu calls it "pork topping", but it's really breakfast sausage. When I was a kid, I could eat breakfast sausage all day, every day and in any recipe. But, not anymore, so I try to stay away from it. So, what type of sausage do you put on your pizza? Do you like regular breakfast style pork topping or Italian sausage?

Its got to be italian. Sweet, mild or hot. Doesn't really matter. A real treat is having all three of those on a pizza with 3 types of pepperoni, onion, mushrooms and garlic baked in the crust!

Oh I don’t like sausage on my pizza- but I like sausage to eat—the only kind is Italian sausage- I like mild the best- but from time to time I can handle hot. I like it smothered in peppers and onions- with ketchup and mustard- Even my daughter likes it! I used to eat breakfast sausage years ago—but is has been a while- Something about it now- makes me cringe.

We don't get sausage, unless we are getting a meat lover's, or supreme from somewhere. Usually when we have pizza, I make it at home, though. That way I can control the fat and junk a little bit better. :) I just use mushrooms, chicken and/or canadian bacon. It just depends on what we have. Sometimes I will put turkey pepperoni on pizza as well, but my husband doesn't like pepperoni, so that's usually only on pizza for my son and I. The few times I've used sausage on pizza, I've always just used breakfast sausage, because that is what we have in our freezer.

I only tend to get offered pepperoni sausage, which is really good, but sometimes slightly spicy. I've never had breakfast sausage on my pizza, actually :)
