Burial or Cremation...

Ok, this is not meant to be morbid or anything...just curiosity.
When your time on Earth is through, what do you want done with your remains? Do you want to be put in a casket and buried? Cremated and buried? Cremated and scattered to the wind? Buried at Sea? Is there a specific place you want to be scattered or buried? Do you have a family cemetary or crypt?
Personally, I think I want to be cremated and buried complete with a regular headstone. That way family that wants to see me, are able to. I don't want to be cremated and sat on a fireplace like a decoration.
Some ppl say they don't care since they'll be dead anyways but I look at it from my families point of view and being able to visit me. I think the old family cemetaries and crypt's are cool but we don't have one. Though alot of my Dad's family is in the same Catholic cemetary up North.
My Grandmother wants to be cremated and buried with her mother up North. The same with my Mom. Maybe that's where I'll go to.
What about you?

I actually have very specific demands for my remains, as morbid as that may seem. I want to be cremated and have my ashes returned to my native Scotland and started there. Kind of a full circle thing for me.

My Grandmother is like that. She is very firm in what she wants done. I think it's b/c she is very close to her mom, like my Mom is with hers and I am with mine. It's kind of a way to be close to them after their gone I guess.

I think that is a great request. To be a part of the land of her beginnings, to end there as well.

I want to be cremated. My family is against it, but if I want it, my family should respect that.

I will be cremated. My family are all aware that it's my choice and decision. My hubby and son are arguing (jokingly) over whose mantle I will be on!
I wish for someone to sprinkle at least a teaspoon of me from the highest hill of the Millenium Force, over Lake Erie, at Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH. That particular place makes me feel so free.

LOL Don't you feel loved when they argue over you like that LOL? I wonder if that isn't why ppl want to be scattered...the freedom of it?
I like being in one place so for me it's an urn in a plot with a headstone.

I was just talking about this subject with my son last night as I was telling him that he is the beneficiary to my life insurance policy. I told him I want to be cremated and my ashes scattered into the oceans tide to be washed out to sea. (I do want to have my ashes in the ocean but not dropped into the deep water although that is where I will eventually end it just seems better to think that I will be scattered along the shore and the waves will take me out to sea. Weird perhaps but that is just my philosophy. Besides the fact that I believe our spirits leave our bodies when we pass and the body is just a vessel for life on earth.
AND I fell better knowing that no maggotts or bugs will be crawling in and out of my body.
Just my opinion.......

I don't want to be cremated. I don't really know why, but the thought of it is creapy to me. I just want a regular burial in a cemetary.

I have very specific requests for my demise. I want to be cremated and sealed in an urn. I cannot fathom my rotting corpse and the thought of the possibility of bugs crawling on me. Just a thing with me I guess. I know I am no longer a part of my earthly body, but I don't want my family wasting gas money to come to my burial plot when they can go into their living room for free and see me in the china hutch lol.

I think cremation is getting popular nowadays and it is more 'sanitary'. We have a family plot in a cemetery and it would be nice if most if not all of us brothers and sisters could agree on our ashes buried there with our parents.

That would be really nice. My Dad's parents (and their parents), one of my Aunt's (Dad's sister) are all buried together in the Catholic cemetary up North in my hometown. My Dad and Stepmom have their plots as well as for my sister and brother up there and their kids.

It's only one's mortal remains that are left...the person, their being, their self, their spirit has left, gone, departed. I'd like to be buried in a cardboard box with a tree planted on me so I'm still of some use (fertiliser) that would be after the science department has finished with me. I plan on donating my body to science for research after as many organs as possible have been harvested from me.

I haven't thought about it much and really don't care one way or the other.
The last I heard I was going to be stuffed in the freezer under the frozen peas...

OMG I am laughing so hard I can barely see the keyboard!!
This is a running joke in our family from when we first bought our big deepfreezer and my Mom asked me why we needed one so big. Off the top of my head I spouted off with "Well, where do you think I'm putting Hubby when he's gone?"
Now it's a family joke...my Mom will tell my Stepdad that he better behave or he's going on top of the frozen peas LOL
I can't believe Hubby actually put this comment LMAO

For me it doesn't matter if I will be cremated or buried. What matters is that I will be remembered by my family and friends.
But the financial issues will be considered. I know that cremation is much much more expensive than being buried. So I would prefer to be buried to save those who I would left behind money. LOL

I dont care really to be honest I think I will live it up to my family. No one that I know in the family has been cremated so I dont think they will go with that unless I insist on it. I want them to have a special place to come and visit. And than I want my husband to be with me if posible and I want to be close to my family and considering they will never go for a cremation I am safe to say that I wont have one as well. Not that I will know anyway.

when I die I would prefer to be cremated and scattered my ash by the sea,I don't knon I prefer that cremation because its a lot cheaper I don't have to pay a yearly mentinace in a cementary,so its cheaper I could also bring my ash at home if I want too, but I still prefer to be scattered by the sea side.

Cremated and buried, either alongside my parents or alongside a spouse, if I have one at the time. I want to make sure people who care have a place they can go and visit my remains.

years ago me and hubby decided we would be cremated . So when He passed away we had him cremated and Now I have a self that son in law made with his Cherrywood box with remains in it there is room for me too and then the kids can keep what they want and sprinkle the rest that will go on a mountain in to a river. The box is the URN!
and it has a plaque that has every thing on it just like a head stone. as all my people will be gone my kids are the only ones that want any thing .
HIs neice asked me to have some ashes sent back to Tenn with my son so they put them in a vault and the ashes was buried between his mom and dad.
Now neice is asking me if she can put some of me with my hubby there too . am Thinking about that one. For at the enad 3 kids want some of our ashes and the the rest gets spread.

I have discussed this with my children and let them know my wishes, twoey. I would like to be cremated and have my remains buried near my great-aunt and uncle in Tennessee where I grew up. It is the only true home I ever had.

Actually, no one in my family has ever been cremated as far back as I can remember. My dad's family is all in one graveyard in my town, and my mom's side is in the other graveyard in town. I want to be buried in the same graveyard as my dad and my daughter. My husband and I both want that, and my son wishes not to be cremated, too. We are looking into buying some burial plots, because that cemetary is filling up fast. I just think I would much rather be closer to my daughters grave when I die. Some people don't think it matters much, but to me it does. I loved my dad tremendously, and he was my best friend for a lot of years, and this is why I chose to have my baby girl buried on top of her grandpa. I know that he is taking care of her and I also know that it would be a very big honor for him to have my daughter right there with him. I miss them both so much! I have a friend that was cremated and the kids decided to take turns keeping the urn at their house so many months out of the year. That is ok for them, but for me it is a little creepy!

My plan is to be cremated and my ashes thrown into the ocean. From dust we come and to dust we shall return. I have already written it all out for my family, they can save a bit of the ashes for burial but that is up to them. I want to be returned to the place I love the best, the ocean waves will take me all over the world.
