Would you ever want to be extremely rich? Have mansions, chauffers, maids, butlers, the works? Do you think there'd be any downfalls to this lifestyle? How much do you need to make you happy?
Personally I don't think I'd want a lifestyle like that... maybe for a day but thats it. I think ppl that have oodles of money run into the problem of ppl using them, ppl trying to extort money from them and not really knowing why someone wants to be their friend. I also think they are under alot of preasure to never screw up...since it will undoubtably end up in the society page or newspapers. I think as long as I have enough to pay my bills and help out my family when they need it...I'm happy.

Nope. All I want is to make enough money to live comfortably. To be able to pay all my bills on time and not have to rely on credit cards all the time. To be able to splurge on my dvds and such. That's all. Just enough to live comfortably.

No I don't want to be mega-rich. I only want to have happy and simple life with my family. Of course I know that we need money to live but we don't really need to be extremely rich since it's not a guarantee that you will have a happy life.

I would LOVE to be mega-rich...not only would I be able to live where I wanted, I would also be able to influence policy decisions by buying whatever politicians I wanted.
The power would be amazing and unlimited.
I get giddy just thinking about it.

What do you think all of the special interest groups do?
How about all of those groups that endorse their favorite politicians?
It's Quid Pro Quo all the way around...they don't give that money out of the goodness of their hearts you know.
So why shouldn't I get a piece of that action?
Who knows...maybe something good would actually come of it for once.

I most humbly, and most certainly, would consent to being mega-rich. To have a house so big, my family would need walkie-talkies to keep track of one another! To have butlers, maids, nannies, tutors and gardeners. I'd have to trust that my sense of self, character and spirituality are all strong enough not to be compromised. But I have to preserve those things anyway. People worry that having money would "change" them. Well, don't you think that being poor or even "working poor" changes you? Besides, what's wrong with a little change?! Don't you want to know what your pure interests are, instead of only doing things to make money? Or not being able to do things because of money? What's wrong with wanting to see the world, interact with it, even affect the world - instead of just reading about it? Or worse, watching it on the telly?
Some worry that they won't know who their friends are, they worry that people will try to take advantage of them. Haven't you ever been betrayed by a friend or lover, someone who had an agenda or selfish ulterior motives? Someone who lied to you - even if you barely had two nickels to rub together? Money isn't the only reason that people betray one another, I daresay, it isn't even the MAIN reason.
Having money doesn't ensure happiness, just like NOT having money doesn't mean you have to be miserable. Having money does not mean that you cannot have character or kindness, just like NOT having money doesn't make you more noble or pure of heart. I think that this would be a perfect time in my life to suddenly become mega-rich. So many of us live lives that revolve around money issues that we don't even realize it - the paying of bills, the question of affordability effecting virtually EVERY choice that we make. Wouldn't it be fun to find out who you would be without the constraints imposed by money issues? What would REALLY be your favorite food? Your favorite car? Your favorite color? Your favorite book or movie or song? Even, your favorite friend? The exposure you have had in life, so far, no matter how diverse it may have been is nothing compared to the sights, sounds, sensations, opportunities, lessons, adventures that await you beyond the boundaries of a limited income. I'm not exactly chasing leprechauns but I wouldn't say "No" to a big old, bottomless pot o'gold!
Fun question, twoey! And, btw, I think that I would prefer "sudden" wealth rather than being born into it. I wouldn't want to miss out on the thrill of really appreciating having mounds of money. You know how they say that "you can't miss what you never had"? Well, maybe you can't appreciate what you've ALWAYS had, either! (I'd REEAALLY appreciate the winning mega-millions numbers! LOL!)

I want to have enough to live "comfortably" That means paying my bills, having my own home (not a mansion) and being able to have some savings. Although a maid would be nice :)

Ya' know Misheleen, you're right. It would be nice having some help cleaning the house.
I'm not sure if I'd really want a maid. I think I would find it annoying to have someone around every day. But, I'd sure like to have a small crew come in on Saturdays to to the mopping and toilets.
Yup, I'm with you on this one Misheleen!

I would rather be mega-rich than mega-poor. I want to be able to travel and I want to have a large house, and be able to help those who do not have much. I am not a very selfless person and much of it has to do with fearing that if I gave stuff to someone, I would not have enough left for myself, but this way, I could maybe let some stay at my house who come from out of town, donate more money to missions, get a piano, travel, learn languages, etc. I would still have the same attitude, but would be able to do more. I would have to get used to the high society, but when I was young, we used to visit these rich posh ladies in Shaunessy, that is a rich area in Vancouver, and I got along fine with them. I can get along with most people, so will have no problems.
I think that this idea that it is better to be poor than to be rich is rather a bit about envy and being nervous if one does not do the right thing. If you get an etiquette book and watch the good rich people, not the bad rich people, you will know how to act.

I won't say no to Abundance lol if is from good clean earning and then I can help a lot of people I know out. I would't live the celeb lifestyle either lol. I don't drink or smoke and if I had more money I would plough it into my halth and making others feel better in themselves and on many different levels. Money is ajn energy, you can use it for good or evil, depending on your intent.

Well hate to say it, but yes I would love to be mega-rich...I don't know about having maids, chauffeurs etc....though couldn't hurt--LOL. I have always dreamed of the rich lifestyle...never having to worry about paying bills, living in the kind of ideal home or homes, being able to travel whenever and wherever the urge took me, buying whatever I wanted when I wanted it, instead of scrimping and saving for something--just plain never having to worry again about anything, to feel the monetary security that a rich lifestyle can offer--oh yup, count me in for that lifestyle :)

Yes there are many more problems when you are mega-rich. I would love to hit the lottery, pay all my bills, and live as I live now. But so many things change all at once when that much money comes into play like you said. You have to keep your guard up and make sure you hike up security of your property and assets. It's always best to be as secretive as possible when you have money like that. I wouldn't want anyone to know I had money that would help some of the problems I think.

Hello Twoey68,
Hmmm, yes I would like to be mega-rich. Only because I have some research/invention ideas that would require significant funding to be accomplished.
Otherwise, I'm quite satisfied with my life. I'm pretty comfortable with the differences between 'want' and 'need', and we're pretty set in both.
I wouldn't worry about the pit-falls of mega-wealth, because I doubt that great wealth would change my husband or I very much.
We are already quite discriminating, and terribly fond of our privacy. I think the key to having abundent wealth, and not losing sight of the beauty of simplicity, is not flaunting it.
An inanimate object of state of being is only empowered if we transfer some of our own power to it.

No I would not like to be that rich...It would take away all your dreams and plans and wishes, because you would not have to do that anymore, you could do anything without ever having a hope. Now ! I would like to have some money to help me with my needs at this time, but not mega money..My daughetr in law won the million dollar lotto on a scratch off,and it was bad enough watching them and how people were trying to use them,it made them very happy but they also started having trouble between them...Money has a way of changing people..If that could happen with just a million,i would hate to think what would happen if you were really rich...

I wouldn't want to be extremely rich, but I do want money to payoff my house and all my debts, like $200,000 will be enough for me. I want to have a peaceful life and without any money problems.

I was always thinking of being extremely rich. Being extremely rich, I can live in a huge house, I can travel to any places I dreamed to, I can buy many beautiful cloths and so many wonderful things that I wanted to do.
However, the truth is that being rich is not equal to being happy. When you are poor, you want to be rich. When you are rich, you want to be more rich. When being more rich, you wish to be extremely rich. People say happiness lies in contentment. I am very happy to be with my husband and my daughter now, although we need to work hard to pay the debts. We love each other very much.

You are extremely correct. One survey was that what salary can make you feel happy, most respondents said two times as the current salary. But the point is when they got that much salary after hard working, they will not be happy any more. To make tem happy and satisfied, another salary increase by one time is required. Although the world is abroad, but it can't fill our heart of fisk size as the nature of greedy.
I love my wife and little baby also. But I am not with them now, missing them ............
