Do you ever keep your television on just for the company?

My tv is on all the time. Since I live alone it seems to give me the feeling of not being alone plus I get to hear the news if I actually listen to it...lol. I also keep it on now to keep my bird company when I'm at work or out doing errands. The funny thing is that I always have it on while I'm on the pc and if one of my favorite programs comes on I basically only hear it and glance at the screen once in awhile to see what's going on.
Do you keep your tv on for company? Do you pay attention to what's happening on it if your really not paying attention?

My tv is on all the time too. I don't keep it on when I leave though. I do, however, sleep with it on as I don't like the dark or the silence. So that's why I come home, take of my shoes, put down my stuff, love my cat and then turn on the tv. Sometimes it's love my cat, take off my shoes put down my stuff then the tv. all depending haha.

Yeah,I do the same thing with you.When I stay at home lonely I will keep my tv on or open my netbook even I know I don't want to surf on the Internet.I just want to hear sound whatever where it comes from .Maybe both of us are afraid to be lonely.

Personally, I am used to being lonely. As much as I try to change it I always find myself alone.... :(
oh poor me huh? lol.....I also keep my pc on just to hear the little noises coming from it sometimes.

We spend most time in our computer room as we work at home so we have a t.v in there also we leave the t.v on all the time like you mostly for the news but if its not on the news we have it on hgtv I can hear whats going on and if I want to watch I can also when we go to bed we have the tv on .I think its a habit of mine I like to hear it as I am falling asleep.

I'm in the habit of setting the sleep timer for 2 hours because I know I will be asleep by then.

Hello!
When i'm alone, which is most of the time, I do turn on my tv like you for the sake of not feeling alone or having a company. I always put it on in mtv for music, I love listening to music and when the music playing is my fave I would stop and watch the video. I remember when we're still kids, everytime my parents go out, they would tell us to leave the tv on so that the people outside would think/know that there people inside the house. Thanks for sharing. *smile*

No, I do not keep the TV on all of the time. I prefer the silence when with headache and am mostly with one. Besides, it is using too much electricity too in comparisson to the older TV's, and it's such a waste if I dont watch it to have it on. I also work most of the time and cannot use the chatter at all :) Have a nice week ahead

I keep the TV on a lot when I am working on the computer I will look up now and then to see what is going on but I really don't pay much attention to it. It's just company or something.
I turn it off when I can't stand the prattle anymore and listen to music.
I am a night person so, when the infomercials come on and I have to hear about how I can look 20 years younger without surgery, how great the Bowflex is, and how to extend that certain part of the male's anatomy, I turn the TV off. Ugh.

No, I do not like watching the television, so I rarely switch it on. Only when I wonder the news or the wether forecast.

I'm the exact opposite...I live alone too, but I rarely have the TV on at all, maybe just the radio with some music but very low. Maybe because I was an only child and a latch key kid, I got used to being alone a lot, so nope I don't need the TV on all the time..actually would find it a distraction especially when in front of the computer.

i am one of the guilty people who keeps the tv on "just for company". if no one is at home, i would turn on the tv and pick a channel that i MAY want to watch. once thats done i will go around doing other things but watching tv. i thought i was the only one doing it until i saw this post.

I leave the tv on when i'm on the computer. I don't like silence! I have to have something on in the background whatever i'm doing. At the minute i've got the holloaks omnibus on, which i have already seen but it just means i'm just half watching because i already know what's going on.

I have ever since my son started school. I leave it on even though I may not be watching it but I can hear it in the background. It does give me sense of not being totally alone during the day. Sometimes I would glance at it from time to time just to see what is on or to change the channel.

Like you I keep it on for the company and to listen for news and such. But my TV is in a different room from my computer, so if something comes on that I want to hear better or see, I have to get up and go in the other room. I also watch quite a bit of TV during the regular season. There are several shows that I like to watch.

Sometimes I will do this to make myself feel that I am not alone,This is a way that I often do in my childhood to relive my fear b/c I can heard another sound in my house so I am no longer fear at all.However as time went by ,I am grow,so I don't fear at all,On the country,I like to stay alone ,becaues you can do your own things ,read your favorite books,eat your favorite food without anyone's disturd,I like this feeling,really so engoyable.;-)

I don't have my Tv on all the time, but at the night when I am working here then yes I do.How you said it keeps me company and when it would be only silent here, I would be probably scare.I don't watch tv that much, but I like to listen it, at least.But sometimes it could be disturbing to me too and I cannot concentrate.It depend on my mood.
