I live in a tropical country so you can imagine how much mosquito's we got here. There are at least 5 of them trying to stick their noses in my legs as I am posting this discussion.
I'd like to ask anyone if you have home made insect repelant. I'm still reluctant using commercial ones, I feel like I'm putting insecticide to my skin every time I use them.
Any tips guys... Thanks. Cheers!

Thank you. I haven't heard this before.I will try later. In 2006,my family made a move. We went to the development zone of my hometown. My father's company provided some goods for the new comers. What is it? It is a bottle of insectcide. We all did not understand at that time. Now I understand this. Mosquitos here are much bigger and clever than others.

I heard not too long ago that carrying a dryer sheet in your pocket would ward off insects.I have no idea if it works or not as I haven't tried it! The person who told me that said that the brand didn't matter. It seems to me that the scent would ATTRACT a mosquito, but she swore that it didn't!

Well, not homemade, but look on line for Avon, Skin so Soft. Its a body lotion that "'seeters" won't bite thru. Men, big tough men, buy it to take fishing because they don't want to be putting poison on either, & the bugs leave them alone.

When I was small, we had problems with this insect also...Granny used to put a cap full of vinegar in our bathwater and always swore that it helped to reduce the number of bites we received...

You can try some of the following
Lemon Oil or Lemons
Lemongrass Oil
Cinnamon scents, or oils
Garlic
Clove
Geranium Oil
Peppermint Oil
Rosemary as a spray or oil
Eucalyptus Oils (Cough drops for example, or Vaporrub)
Also get rid of moisture sources and make sure the room is not humid. Do not sweat too much either cause mosquitoes are fans of moisture
Do not wear dark clothing since it stands out the most for mosquitoes. You want light or white clothing (this is also why mosquito nets are mostly white). Do not have any perfumes or hairsprays on, especially those that smell like fruit or flowers. Those also attract mosquitoes.

Hey what's up buddy?
Yeah it's my turn now! LOL
Anyway, you know what buddy?
We don't have that much mosquitoes here in the house. lol
We're just using the commercial one here bro.
Like Baygon, it's effective!
Or if you don't really like using those insect repelants, why don't you use "OFF" to protect your skin from mosquito bites? How sensitive is your skin bro? hehe
However, having a good hygiene, clean body and surroundings will protect us from any Mosquitoes.
