Anime moods?

I'm usually not that active in the anime topics here at mylot, but I'm just in an anime mood today. It's funny because sometimes I'll go weeks without really watching much anime or thinking about it, and then suddenly I'll watch several series over a course of a few days, or want to discuss it with everyone I see.
Today is one of those days where I've just been bursting to discuss anime. So I answered several of the discussions I found interesting under the anime topic, started more than one of my own. =p
Do you get in anime moods? Do you go on binges and watch a lot of anime for a while and then not watch it for a bit? Do you have those days when you could just talk about nothing but anime all day?
Am I a nerd? *giggles*

You are a incorrigible, unforgivable Nerd, yes indeed :)) LMAO Been waiting for you to post something I could chime in about with you today and you are right You are stuck..... LMAO The only thing close to anime that I have ever watched is Yu-gi-oh, when my son was a fanatic. Dang the money we spent on those cards... a Small fortune. He still has them all and who knows what they might be worth to him someday... but thats my chiming in, I could not stand it anymore I had to crash and say hello at least :)))) So hello dear friend I shall now leave you to those people that know what they are talking about here.

Hehe, you're so sweet. =P
I'm glad you chimed in! I love hearing from you! I haven't been too reliably active lately, just kind of here and there, so I understand you not finding much you could reply to. =P
Eh, my friends have kids that watch Yu-Gi-Oh. Bleh. I'm glad my son isn't old enough to be interested in that stuff yet. Though I'm sure it'll be something worse by the time he's old enough!
Anyways, hello! And it's okay if you don't really know about anime, not everyone has the same interests. =p

i don't watch anime too on a regular basis anymore but there are days when i am really on an anime mood and i would have an anime dvd/tv marathon and then after that i will not be satisfied and i would talk about it over and over again to another anime fan. LOL i just got like this after watching the first season of naruto shippuuden. ^__^;;
another anime mood i get into is when i see a cool picture of one of my anime fave and then that would start my anime-pic-collecting frenzy. LOL that happened just last month and the result was tonz of pictures of sailormoon and other animes. ^__^;;
if you are nerd, then i guess i am too. LOL

Ahhh I still have to see Shippuuden! I swear I'm going to tell my husband I'm watching it without him if he doesn't find time soon. Bleh.
I collect pics too when I get in the mood. I wound up with hundreds of Iruka pictures in the process of finding this avatar. :P

I'm the exact same way, so I guess that makes us fellow nerds! Sometimes I can't even make myself watch even one episode, and other days I do nothing BUT watch anime all day long! It feels good to go on a real anime binge sometimes, but at the same time I sometimes feel a little...boring during the "dry periods". Like I've lost the passion or fascination for anime completly.

I've gone through those periods too, where I felt like maybe I wasn't interested in anime at all anymore. But my interest always comes back after I've taken a break from it!
I didn't intentionally skip your response earlier, it was an accident. Sorry!

I'll have bouts where I'll watch it almost all day. Most other times its a show here and a show there.
Lecanis you are no nerd. Everyone on mylot knows I'm the nerd. I'm sure my recent posts in the anime section got you going on it. You should see Emarie's recommended anime discussion I posted to.
http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1239165.aspx
You'll find it there.
Plus if Champion Oreocookie is looking, that thread may help you out on what anime is. Its just a bunch of tv or movie programming. I'll talk about the OVA side of it later.

Ooooo perhaps I should bow to the superiority of your Nerdiness!
I'll have to check out the discussion you mentioned!
I remember once my husband and some friends and I watched Ranma 1/2 for like 3 days straight practically, that was so many years ago now! We lived in an apartment with friends who had a young child, and I think he watched a little too much Ranma 1/2, because he started saying "I'm girl Joey now!" *giggles*

I think if you like anime its not a reason to be ashamed.
What is the problem of watching anime?
I need to see NOODY every time my cousin is here!
See how many anime you want, at least i am not to critisize you.

*laughs* When I first got into anime I was always in an anime mood too, but I'm almost 27 and I have a husband, son, and a full-time job (though I'm on medical leave at the moment) so typically I don't have time for anime all the time anymore. In fact, once in a while it comes down to... "Will I watch anime or sleep tonight?"

You're not a nerd at all - the idea of a nerd is purely an American-invented form of inverted snobbery, perpetuated by vacuous people to make them feel culturally superior for their personality and intellectual deficiencies. So first off, I don't accept the concept of a "nerd" as anything but a stereotyping bullying term. If you were obsessed by cars, engines or flower-arranging, your culture wouldn't give you this stigmatising description - they'd call you an interesting well-rounded person, when in fact the interest you have in anime is, in my opinion, a far more worthwhile pursuit, which also broadens your experience of Asian culture.
Right, rant over now LOL!! I love anime - I don't claim to be even moderately well-informed on the subject, but being interested and slightly knowledgeable in film, storytelling, cultural concepts and art means that I get a great deal from watching anime, when I am in the mood to. Having a real interest in music, literature, anime and a whole raft of other subjects, means that I don't have time to watch anime that often, but I do sometimes get in an "anime" mood, as I also get in a "French cinema" mood, or a "Chinese cinema" mood :-) Having played Shenmue and Shenmue 2, I sometimes get in a Shenmue-mood (when ARE they going to make Shenmue 3? It's just NOT fair - even if it's just a film, I really want to know how the story began and ends! Naughty Suzuki san for keeping all his fans on tenterhooks!) I'm currently saving up to buy the Paranoia Agent series, as I discovered this intriguing and quite compelling anime series by chance, buying a promo DVD cheaply on Ebay, because the title sounded interesting and my partner and I enjoy anime. It's only got the first 5 or 6 episodes, and we're hooked! So sometime soon, we're going to buy the whole lot, and probably have a weekend of watching the whole thing - perhaps I should save up my flexi-time at work, and take a couple of days off for the purpose :-) So whilst I bow to your obviously superior knowledge and expertise on the matter, I do love anime, and am not completely ignorant on the topic :-) Incidentally, have you ever had the chance to visit Japan? As many places in Anime are based on real-life places, I believe, I've always thought it might be fun to visit the real-life settings of anime and anime-based games!

Unfortunately, the only anime that comes on here is on Saturday mornings lol. If there was an anime channel in my house, I would watch it all the time! I do have lots of different anime recorded on VHS that I recorded from Saturday mornings for when I feel like watching some.

Dunno if you count as a nerd but sometimes i do get anime moods....You are always just too busy and preoccupied with something you forget about anime and/or couldn't be bothered to care for it...But then you suddenly want to get into anime soooo suddenly. I compare this to when i suddenly hear a song i've heard before but havven't heard in a long time; i suddenly go on youtube and look for the song to listen to again!!

Hehe, I just had to say I'm a nerd because I know so many people who think "anime fan=nerd". =P
It is very much the same thing as not hearing a song in a long time, or even not listening to music at all perhaps. I just get so busy that I don't even think about anime and then all of a sudden I have a craving and watch tons of it. I suppose there are worse things I could binge on though! *giggles*
