Killer wants her kids back!

Did you hear that Mary Pickler, the woman who murdered her preacher husband last year is now out of prison and wants her three daughters back? It's bad enough she got only 150 days in jail for shooting someone in the back but now she thinks she should get to raise his children! What's your opinion on this new development in this very sad story? I'm never one to defend a man who abuses his wife or girlfriend, quite to the contrary, but in this case her life wasn't threatened in any way, in fact the "abuse" she had suffered had been mostly verbal and emotional; I'm not condoning that behavior either but it isn't justification for shooting someone in the back with a shotgun! Let's discuss it!

Yea, why didn't she just take the kids, the stuff, serve him with the papers and leave. Divorce laws are quite on sided (as are laws and punishment in general hence the 150 days. If a guy did it he'd be in the gas chamber). Anyways, why not divorce? She would have made out like a bandit. So why the shotgun!? O_o And I'm really concerned about what she could do to the kids, if she's capable of making swiss cheese out of a guy who just yelled at her.

Don't know the facts surrounding this case but I wouldn't say that emotional abuse is something to be pushed aside or made light of! Of course she was wrong to kill her husband. But perhaps she is a very good mother in which case it would be wrong to deprive them of her mothering.

She only got 150 days in jail for murder...of a preacher no less! My gosh! I can't believe it, what is the world coming too. Of course she shouldn't have her kids back! I hope they don't give her custody. Do you know who is taking care of the children right now? Do you know how old the girls are?
