OK Laurika, for my brain training I always use simple mathematical calculations and saying answers out loud.
Through my knowledge about brain training, by doing that such way of practice actually activates the brain, particularly the pre-frontal cortex which governs the most essential living functions for humans, such as cognition, emotion and memory, and enables the maintenance and improvement of brain functions.
You know Laurika, when you saying answers out loud, you are activating the hearing function which also the members part of the brain, it cells and the connectivity.

Training the brain is like training a money. You should constantly give exercises to the brain. We hardly use a minute part of our brain potential and women usem ore than men. Therefore, understanding that brain can be put to maximum use, one should contstantly use the brain by using it - How to use it.? One way is to stuff it with knowledge, information about skills that are acquired to be acquired by you, with good things that can overide on bad things. Read a lot, try to remember them. Daily two to three hours, if you keep studying one thing or the other, you can feed the brain and it will give you feed back.

I downloaded a game called brainiversity the other week to test my brain out lol, it has various things and gives you "exams" that you can keep taking to see if you improve.

Well the age old saying " use it or lose it" refers to the brain.
I suppose everyone uses their brain in some way every day, even for the smallest things.
I do believe that puzzles and crosswords are good for keeping the brain active, so I read once, so keep on using that brain, "use it ot lose it"
