It's my birthday today. I am happy that God give me another year to celebrate. I am glad friends greeted my today and my family as well.
But the problem is, I no longer feel the thrill of a birthday celebration unlike when I was younger. I don't feel like celebrating at all.
Have you experience this before?

Before answering a little diddy...
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
May you keep Jesus near
Every Day of the Year
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
And the BEST you ever had!
Now to answer the question...
There are a lot of things that we don't feel the same enthusiasm as we did as a child... and Christmas is one that comes to mind right away... sure I absolutely LOVE to GIVE gifts more than I do to receive them (love when I see joy on other people's faces) but the thought of going to the mall with 10s of thousands of others just doesn't bring joy to my heart.
As for your birthday... indeed it is just another day and you take it exactly as you should... a time to reflect back in your life and thank God for the time he has given you here on this earth and a time to look forward to what it is you want to accomplish.
You are completely normal (at least when it pertains to this subject :-) )!

Thank you zeloguy!
Yeah, I am thankful to God for all the blessings that He had showered me all through the years. I thank Him for health, loving husband and family, for my friends, for my job and financial and material blessings as well as spiritual blessings.
I have one wish though, I wish I will get pregnant this year. Help me pray... Thanks

I think as we get older we get that feeling, when I was younger too,I'll be excited about my birthday,I plan and discuss it with friends,we'll have small party at my place and get some drinkas and really have fun..
But now that we're all matured and changed..It's kinda different now..
Anyways, happy birthday jhanna! wishing you more blessings to come!

I've noticed a change in feelings, too, like it's just another day instead of something special.
I don't know if the thrill (celebrating birthdays as kids) comes from seeing what our parents come up with for the cake design, decorations, etc., or maybe it's because we got gifts that we couldn't afford to buy ourselves.
I just joined myLot today, so I wish you a happy belated birthday!

Happy happy birthday. I have felt that sometimes too..like it's just another day. Until of course someone does something special to remind me that I am important to them. So just in case no one else tells you.......Happy Birthday...you are important to someone!

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you happy birthday dear Jhanna happy birthday to you! I would have sung it for you but it is impossible to do so. Well it is just like when I was a child christmas was the bomb. Now I am older I still enjoy it but not as much becos I have matured and look at life from a matured angle. Its the same here with you. You have outgrown those excitements and so on when it comes to birthday and your priorities have changed. It all comes with the territory dont worry!
Hope you had a wonderful day and all the best. God bless!

Happy birthday to you Jhan.
Yea I've felt the same way about birthdays in recent memory. I know when they are but it almost seems like just another day. Or at least a day off to relax. Nothing truly special happens in recent times on the birthday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Hey, my birthday is just another day, no biggie any more really. The way I see it, kids birthdays are cool because they get parties and attention, some milestone birthdays (for Americans) are:
10 - A decade old
13 - A teenager
16 - Able to get a driver's license
18 - Able to vote and enlist in the armed forces (some states may still allow you to drink at this age)
21 - Old enough to drink legally
25-ish - Car insurance goes down
62 - elegible for Social Security
100 - One century mark
Other than that, they're just another day - you're day of course, but just another year older.
HAVE A GOOD ONE!!!

Hi there. Yes I treat my birthday like any other day, but then I have a loving family who ring me or just turn up and want to celebrate, a loving husband and children who always buy me a present on that very day as well... Well Happy Birthday to you anyway, even if you dont feel thrilled to celebrate... Have a good one...

Jhanna,
Happy Birthday!
May God bless you more!. I guess its normal not to feel thrill of a birthday celebration. I feel the same way when my birthday comes.
Sometimes we only feel our Birthday becomes special, when a love one who are continents away, pay us a special visit.
The same is true for people who just got back together after a major break up. We feel that our birthday becames special, because you have other reasons to celebrate.

Happy birthday jhanna. I felt what you feel right now. Almost a month ago was my birthday, and I was not that excited. It was just like an ordinary day to me. Unlike when I was younger, I was always soo excited a month before my birthday. Planning where to celebrate it. But as we grow older, I think what's important is just being thankful that we have another year to celebrate life.
Happy birthday, jhanna! and Enjoy life!

I usually get the 'don't celebrate' feeling on the birthday's that end in '5'. I've always been a very 'sick' person. Basically grew up in the hospital rather than home until 2nd grade. I now view each and every day, not just birthday, as another celebration! My life motto -- It's only as fun as you make it.

Hi Happy Birthday! Today is the birthday of my favorite aunt too. And I greeted her already and send my simple gift to her too.
Well, when people are growing up, we have so many things that we feel not so contented with, unlike during childhood days everything is so wonderful even a simple gifts that we receive from the people around us, even a simple greetings from them during birthdays or any occassion we feel so overwhelming. Like for example when christmas is nearly to come children are so excited for that, and we experience that way too, way back during our childhood days. Now that we are getting older and there are so many things that occupied our minds and makes our life busy, we feel not so excited and contented of the simple things that we received.
Its true that a childs heart is pure, happy in everything that they received even a small token from the people around them.

Well...first of all Happy Birthday...
To tell the truth,in my case,it has been happening to me for the last about 2-3 years that I remember that today is my birthday at the end of the day when I am going to sleep. All day long, the hectic university work and all that stuff simply takes the fun stuff off from your mind.
And as you grow older and older, you start considering other important stuff in life...But it does not mean that you are completely ruled by your worries or other daily routines...
Just cheer up and enjoy life.
