As most of you know I am now getting a divorce. Now I am trying to sell my ring. I put iy on craigslist and now a lady wants to pay for the ring via a electronic cashier check via her BOFA. I will let you read what she had to say and you guys can tell me what to think of it. I really would like the sale but not if it gets me into trouble
I will like to proceed with the transaction asap and my mode of payment will be via Electronic Cashier Check drawn on my bank (Bank Of America) as there are too many scams on internet with bogus Money Orders and personal checks,The electronic cashier check will be sent to your email so all you need to do is purchase a business check paper at any Office depot or stationary store to print the check and immediately when you print the check proceed to your Bank to cash or deposit the check, the Business check paper cost $20 only but i will offer you $50 to purchase the Business check paper and for accepting my mode of payment.I should have handled this myself but i am not available to do this now i am currently away for my company seminar that is why i want you to do this to facilitate the transaction.
I am purchasing this jewelry for my brother for his Engagement/Wedding ceremony coming up next three weeks so you're to ship the jewelry to my brother via Global Express Mail (USPS) after you must have confirmed and cashed the check i will include shipping fee to your money so you have nothing to worry about.
Electronic Cashier checks is fast, secure and best method of payment because it is instant once you purchase Business check paper all the process of printing and cashing of the E-check can be done within 2 hours.
Proceed to delete the advert of this item if my mode of payment is accepted and get back to me asap to complete this transaction.
Thanks
Thanks so much in advance for letting me know what you think of this.

Don't do it, too many scams these days with email money, this is craigslist .. tell them cash works for you and if they want it bad enough they will get cash into your hands ... just hate to see you scammed out of the money for the ring ... never trust what is true good to be

I have to say that I agree with texasclassygal. If she wants the ring bad enough she'll find a reasonable mode of payment in which you'll understand. I don't understand that kind of paying. It's like what the hell? No go with your gut and don't do it.

Now days, with things such as PayPal, who would want to go to all that trouble that she wants to put you through. I wouldn't do it, but I would edit your listing and include that you will only except payment via paypal. Either that or pay a few dollars and put it up on Ebay or Overstock . com auctions.

I agree meholl Why not just use paypal? It sounds scammy to me too and I wouldn't do it.... Maybe she can send you a paper check to cash? I wouldn't send anything till it cleared 100% though.

OMG, she wants you to print your own bogus check. Guess she figures that will keep her from being the guilty party when it bounces and they come after you.
For all that is good, don't even think about doing this!!!

For the life of me I cannot see the scam here, unless she has done a deal with whoever is going to sell you check paper for $20 ($20 buys 250 checks - what're you s'posed to do with the other 249?)
I can't see why you would want to go to the risk of having this check 'bounce' but then if she was into dodgy checks, she could just send you one in the post. As others have said , I would tell her what ways you are prepared to be paid and if she can't meet the terms, you won't sell her your ring. if you want to pursue this maybe you can ask her for details of her bank account (which will be on the check anyway) and get in touch with the bank in question and ask them if this is a valid account. They may be reluctant to give you all the details, but if you tell them the account details and the name they may be able to confirm it for you. More importantly, they may be able to tell you what precautions you should take with this type of transaction.

I myself would not trust it. If she is currently away from her computer at a seminar but then offering to buy your ring and have you do the printing, etc. I've heard of electronic check but when paying bills to companies. I've never heard of paying someone via electronic check and them printing it out. It somehow sounds like a scam and not very trustworthy. I wouldn't do it.

Dont do it as I was reading this I saw red light flashing infront of my eyes. There are million other ways for you to do it (or should I say for her to do it) I am sure if you tell her why you dont want to do it if she really wants it she would find another way to do it without any problems if she goes missing after that or is all defencive and sais no but this is genuen and all that and isists on doing it her way its a scam.

Hi Cateyes,
I know this is late but I still want to say something. Wow, divorce, huh? I am not surprised when it comes to divorces anymore nowadays. I am in the same boat now but it isn't final yet. If you have tips on how to get over this quickly, please share them with me. I hope your ring is sold to the right person by now. I am not sure if I'll ever get rid of my ring but I don't see the point of keeping it after it is over. Well, I hope things are working alright with you. It has been two years and I am sure things should or did work out by now.

personally, if you live near a bank of america office i would go to them with this email and the persons contact information they gave you.
though this screams SCAM to me!!!!
i wouldn't completely ignore it but i definately wouldn't be so ready to go buy that check paper and do as they instruct.
i say tell her to pay via paypal, it's real easy to set up an account and is free. she can then send the money to you via paypal using her bank of america account.
