This has not been a good week for me, I have never had to put a pet down before. We have seven cats and our youngest had been sick for a few weeks. After taking her back and forth to the vet we were told she had a fatal disease and there was nothibg we ould do for her.It is like loosing a family member. We are going to put her ashes in an urn, I know that some peple may think that this is strange but we loved her sooooo!!! much and it really hurts, This is a picture of my precious baby girl. Her name was Mira, it is short for miracle.

I know this is hard, I have gone through nearly the same thing as you. When I was 5 years old, my parents landlord, gave us two baby kittens they were brothers and they didn't want to split them up as they were so attached to each other.
One was named Simon and one was named Boots. Boots, loved to roam and tom, alot. While Simon did roam, but also loved to be pampered and sookiefied. Anyway, about a year or two later Boots, became very sick, we took him to the vet, and it turned out that he had contacted something called Feline Lukiema. Which is the Equivalent to AIDS, in humans. They told my mom it wasn't passed to humans, however it was passed to other cats, and should be put down. After thinking long and hard, my mom decided to do it. It was hard for us all but we still had Simon who also seem effected by the "disapearence" of his brother.
My mother who treated her cats like her children, Sookiefied Simon more, he would even bath with her, even though you know that cats don't like that. The cat also had a likeing for money, and would steal it out of peoples Jacket pockets if they came. Usually just change. Mostly quaters, which he could actually pick up with his paws. He even started bringing my mother "presents" mice, from around the house, half alive(my mom is terrified of them and you can imagine being a child and woke up for school to your mom screaming, that theres a half alive mouse in your bed.) Anyways when I was 7 my mom got pregnant for her second baby. Simon stayed by her night and day, and tended to sleep on her belly.
After the baby was born however, of course all my moms attention, was then directed at the baby, he tried to get in the crib, and lay with the baby once, my dad had a fit, he believes cats actually suck the breath from a infant, even though we tried many times to tell him, the smell of milk draws them, and the accidentally, could sufficate a child with there fur, not on purpose. Anyways Simon then became Jelious of the baby, and one day he was just gone, we never seen him again. Mom thought that he "ran away" because of how jelious he became, felt guilty and never had another cat until just recently. Still she is not as close to her new cat as she was to simon. Infact this one is attached to my father.

That is an interesting story. I have seen myself the effects of a cat losing there best cat friend. It's amazing how they know and how they express themselves. I'm not much of a dog person, but my parents have a dog that they have had since I was like 13. Her name was Boomer. When we got Boomer we had a cat named Blinky. They lived together in unity for years. One day I was woke up because I heard Boomer barking, going crazy and glass breaking in the living room. When I went in there I discovered Boomer had broken through the window to get outside just to fight off another dog that was attacking Blinky. Blinky didn't survive and we didn't think Boomer would, she had gotten hurt really bad. I just find it interesting how animals interact with each other.

You know it's funny how things work out but just yesterday I thought it has been a long time since we heard from you and I wondered if you were having more eye troubles. Now I know and I do know what you're going through. I lost a blue point one time because my daughter and I were carbon monoxided and the cat didn't make it, just lucky we did. My girl and I had to put our long time best friend down also a few years ago. He was a most beautiful poodle dog I have ever seen. He was so loyal. He was old and no hope same as you're going through and yes they are family members and it's no easy walk in the park. (((BIG HUGS))) and Take Care my friend!!!

I am sorry for your loss. There is nothing strange about keeping the ashes in an urn. Alot of people without pets don't understand that when you have a pet and interact with them like we do, that they are part of the family and losing one is almost and sometimes just as traumatic as losing a person. I just lost my Sycee kitty last year to liver failure. She held on for a while, but one day you could just see that she was done. It was one of the saddest things I have ever experienced. But I took comfort that she was happier where she was. She looked alot like your beauty. I hope it gets easier for you soon!

I'm sorry for your loss. I have been in your position many times in my life with my pets over the years. It will get easier, in the meantime, just give the babies you have left extra love and attention.

I'm so sorry to hear this. She was a beautiful cat. I've only had to put a guinea pig down before and it was terrible. I can't imagine having to put my dog or cat down. I know it hurts right now but things will get better. Take care

My heart goes out to you and your family. I have always had cats around and couldn't imagine waking up without my cat sleeping on my stomach. What kind of fatal disease did she have?

I think I can understand you, I have lost several cats - my last cat just disappeared and I was looking for him for a long time and calling him - I have still no idea what happened but it is a long time ago, so he would be over 20 years old now if he lived.
Cats become real personalities when they grow up, and it is easy to love them as family members.
I am glad you still have the other cats left. I guess they are great personalities too.

Oh I am so sad to read this. Cats are part of the family - when you lose them it hurts so much. I have 6 cats, and have always had a mutliple cat family, and every time I have lost one, I have cried bitter tears. Mira was beautiful, but you must remember you did the right thing because she is at peace now. She is not in pain or suffering anymore. Take care.

That is so sad. I was hurt by knowing that you lose someone so special. I have been with that before. Putting her ashes on urn, is a special idea. I like to support you for that. Actually i am having a hard time if i will look at your cats picture. I know i will be hurt again. I hope your cat is happy in heaven.
