I do love my name, it's from a tv series my mom used to watch a long time ago that she was hooked at... she loved the main character and i was about to come out when she decided to have the girls' name.
I know some who don't like their name for it sounded like names from incient times or names from their great grand parents or sounded just funny,
i do have a friend who hated her name,
if given a chance they would change their name from birth.lol! How about you beautiful people in mylot, do you like your name or just hated it?

I used to hate my name, but after some time I chose to accept it.
My name is David Anthony Reedy
David--comes from the Hebrew, and do to my lacking of keyboard/linguistic options I can't quite accurately present it. It would be something like Dahwud--meaning, "Beloved"
Anthony comes from the Latin Antonius, and means something like "Worthy of Praise"
and Reedy comes from the Irish Gaelic "Reidy" meaning "timid" or "trained".
It's pretty cool when you learn what your name means.

Hi there! Thanks for the compliment. I used to hate it, because I didn't think the definition was "manly". That was when I was young and dumb. I also hate how everyone on earth tends to abbreviate David to Dave, or in worse case scenarios, Davey. I've learned to accept my name and have actually incorporate into my spiritual beliefs--the belief that everything is for a reason. For that, though, I'm not so beLoved by people, because I choose to do my best, to best represent the will and Love of God, as opposed to saying to people what they want to hear. Make sense?

I'm proud of my name, I actually have two first names. My first came from the month I was born, also one of jesus' apostles' name. My second name is from my father, who is a good provider and a very responsible person.
I believe that everyone should be proud of their names, as this is what makes us different with one another..

I adore my first name. I am named after my mother. My middle name is a longer version of my mother's middle name and I do not like it at all. I have accepted it though. It is not the worse or the best. Oh, my mother was named after her aunt.

I would not really actually say that love would be the most appropriate word to exactly describe what I truly feel about my name, but perhaps like would be a more accurate word to precisely characterize the feeling I have for my name.
My name is essentially taken from a prestigious vintage car, which easily exudes elegance and class.
To be more contemporary, though, my name is the same as arguably the best ever Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu master, if not Ultimate fighter, who is undeniably an extremely amazing athlete.
So, in response to your highly interesting question, mycharm88, I do not hate my name, obviously since I actually like it.

My name is ok, my Mom picked it because there were movie stars that were popular with that name at the time. She did not expect a girl - my family only has boys, so my middle name was the first girls name she found in the phone book.

When I was still in my school days, about Grade 4 or 5, I was really curious where my name came from and how my parents got it; so I decided to research on it. Computers and internet were not yet so popular and widespread at that time. I reminded myself to ask my parents about my name once we see each other but it has been put off for a long time because I'm not with them when I had my schooling. I was with my mom's aunt's family here in the city while my parents and siblings stayed in the province. When I finally remembered it, I took the chance to research on it. I even consulted the Webster's dictionary with Bibliographical and Geographical names with meanings on it. Here I finally found the meaning of my name; which is a Greek goddess of wisdom only in a different form; but I was quite satisfied. Somehow I knew that my mom added the letter h right after the goddess' name to signify her own name which started with this letter.

LOL! It took me a long time to accept my name, hahhahaha.... I was named after my parents first names and it was only when I was in my teens that I have accepted my name. My name is as plain as can be but then I feel thankful that my name turned out as it is compared to other people whose names were also the product of their parents' first names. You could not believe what weird sounding names can result from this practice, ugh!

Hello!
Honestly, before I didn't like my name not really hate it but dislike it, and I did tell my mother that. I complained to her about my name. First it wasn't suppose to be how they would have named me, supposedly I should have a middle name like my brothers' [their middle name is our father's nickname] and mine should have been my mother's nickname. Unfortunately it didn't happen. Since i'm the first grandchild, my grandparents were so excited that my grandfather took the honor of registering my name. Result was, he misspelled it and no middle name. I actually had a problem with my name's spelling, as it was different from my birth certificate and baptismal certificate, so then I had to file a petition about it. Now, I can say I do like my name, I have learnt to love it after all these years of using it..*hehehehe* my name is not that bad afterall, *smile*
ciao! =)

When I was young I want to change my name given by my parents. I have always been using a pet name and I am more known to other people as the one I want to be called. Yet I realized I have a beautiful name as my parents want. I still love my real name and it will be my name forever.

Hi Charm,
Hope u must be happy and doing well, Well i like my name very much and never thought of having other as it suits my personality
Other thing how can u hate or dislike name given to u by ur parents with love when u were born.
U know here in Pakistan, when we name our child so normally elders at home decide it, i mean grand parents, other may have their option, discuss them and then final a name, We also see the meaning of name ,it must be good, or if its name of some ancient hero or person.
take care

I love my name. It used to be uncommon when I was in school, but now alot of people have little sisters or kids named Alana. My parents saw a Hawaiin family on family feud and a Lady had my name. They thought it was original and pretty. In middle school I went to school with Amy, Jennifer, Laura, and Teresa. I was always happy that I never required a nickname or last initial in class. It also encouraged me to be different. Everyne in my family has the initial D except me! I love being different.
