Twisted Responses

I just finished commenting on a discussion I started yesterday. This really got my back up because I found-as often happens- many of the responses sought to twist the original discussion into something entirely different than what I intended. This has happened to me on other occasions, but I am fed up! I don't understand why some myLotter's have to twist everything you say. I do have enough intelligence to phrase a question in the right way. I do not like it when someone tries to give a whole new meaning to what I have said.

I know exactly what you mean. It's really funny how two people can read the exact same thing and get two very different meanings out of it.
I would not worry about it to much....I know it gets to me as well when people put words in my mouth....but it's them that can't grasp a simple concept(or read something right).

Good question crazed_mama....I'm not really sure how they do this.
As for your question worldwise1.....there is always those people that have put their two cents in no matter if they have anything relevant to say about the subject or not and of course making a penny or two while they are at it....might be a contributing factor as well.

I have calmed down a lot, winky, but I still don't understand why they even bother to respond at all if they don't understand what is being discussed.

because they want to make a penny. ;) I think my lot must have some way to tell if the posts are quality or just babbling..... Or do they just base that on ratings?

I know what you mean worldwise, so many people here will twist things around and read something into one's discussion or even response so totally around...I had that experience myself, except it was for a reply I had made to a discussion, and someone jumped into my reply, completely reading my reply so wrong it was ridiculous...

Welcome to the club, pyewacket. One nitwit even had the nerve to respond to my very serious discussion by-introducing themselves. I'm thinking, "What?"

I have had a few that clearly understood what was being said and chose to type whatever they felt like adding. At times I sit and scratch my head, go back and read what I typed to see if it had been misunderstood, and then make a comment on their response if I am able to do so. Sometimes it is best just to rate the response and not leave a comment.

*sigh* Yes I know what you mean. I have abandoned a few of my discussions because of this very thing. It sucks the joy right out of you. But you know I feel sorry for people that do that. I think they are attention starved and the only way to get it is to bring strife, into someone else's life. Or the other is that they are just mean spirited people that do not care to even give you a chance to explain in the event of a misunderstanding. My advice post what you want to and try to ignore posters that do this after your first explanation. You will save your self big headaches.

I know that what you say is true, Angel, but nobody likes to be misinterpreted in what they have said. I don't mind being taken to task over something that I said, but I draw the line at things that I did not.

Do you think they just misunderstood you? Maybe their minds are twisted. ;)

In some cases, crazed, yes, I am aware that there might be a language barrier, so I will take the time to explain myself. In other cases, these people have a full understanding of the language and only want to add their twist.

Its happened to me too in one of my earlier threads. I had asked a simple hypothetical question based on my experiences and the fool dodged the question by strawman attacking me. Because I was feeling generous I let him go, but I'm not forgetting it.

Oh, yeah, progamer, I also have a mind like a steel trap. My memory is long and I do know how to get around these jerks.

Worldwise, this did happened to me a few times and by the time i went through the last page, I found the discussion had been twisted and was given a different dimension altogether!
I would say, this was mostly due to cultural differences, in my case atleast. But mostly ppl have a tendency to have his say as the last one. Therein lies the trouble. Even though i think, I am above this, i might be no exception as well. lol..

This happens to me too-I made a post earlier about how fine and sexy Kenny Chesney is and if he were mine I would get arrested for rape. Well, some do gooder man wrote that I was violent person and should not be discussing something as sensitive as rapeon here. So for anyone who did read that post and was offended-my apologies.

Hey..!there is no harm in twisting response unless and until they are ON the subject ..!! It really irritates when we see people diverting themselves to other topics when the current topic is not yet resolved. Its ok when the topic is not that heavy but when topic is a good one I just stand other topics in it!!
But some times we just get new informations from people and its real good!!

I've had this happen to me before too. It's annoying when people try to make it sound like you were saying something you weren't, or that your intentions were something other than what they were. Especially if you were very clear... it's frustrating when people take your discussion to places you didn't mean for it to go.
I must admit, I've probably done this a few times by random rambling, but never intentionally!

Lecanis when it happens to me, I start second guessing myself and maybe I did not make my point clear enough. Maybe my vocabulary is different then everyone else :)) Lord knows I tend to ramble when I am on a roll. I will make an attempt at clarifying one time now, then I just leave it alone. No sense driving myself crazy. Well driving myself further into insanity anyway.

Glad to hear I'm not the only insane rambler around here. =P
I often doubt if I was clear enough too if people take something the wrong way, or twist it, but I'm pretty sure most of the time I know what I'm talking about. (I did say most, not all.)

Sorry I guess I may be one of the people who do this! I honestly try not to but my mind jumps about all over the place and I end up rambling! I tend to blame all the medication but my niece told me the other day to stop speaking bs - I have always been like that! Oh sorry worldwise I have done it again haven't I - promise I will try not to do it anymore, I hate to make you upset! xxx

Its happened to me too, but dont bother. Maybe they are writing for the sake of writing to earn a few cents. It is very frustrating, but it is best to leave them alone. Read and forget.
