What is WRONG with some people??

In the news in the UK today is a 27 year old man who urinated on a disabled woman as she lay dying in the street. As he did it he shouted "this is YouTube material". He was with two friends, had smoked cannabis and been drinking when he spotted her slumped in a doorway. The incident was filmed on a mobile phone. Read the news article here : http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/tees/7002627.stm What kind of world is it when someone collapses on the street and the first thought that comes to some people's mind is "this is YouTube material"? Anyway he's due to be sentenced next month. What do you think a suitable punishment would be?

That is totally sick, For someone to do that to a someone rather she was disabled or not.. He had no business even going near her to do his sick things to her.. Not to mention saying this is you tube material unreal.. I am glad he's been arrested and should get 10 years if not more... That poor lady didn't deserve that..

I'm almost certain he will go to prison and I hope it's a long sentence although whether it will do him any good or not I don't know. Thanks wisconsin26.

It seems the same thing is happening when people see someone being beaten up now days too, they film it for youtube or a similar video sharing site. I really don't know what the punishment should be, he'll probably get a short prison sentence, whether this will teach him anything who knows.

I know - I think if someone has that sort of mind I really doubt if prison will do anything to change it - the only thing it does I guess is get him off the streets for a while.

People are now more into "adventurism," they think that everything they do is legal and funny. They somehow immitate everything they see, from tv up to the internet. Some of them just don't give much inportance on elders or disabled person, whoever they are and whatever they are. I believe he deserves more than what he did, I guess it would be best if he'd drink the pee of thatthe victim and all those who would wish him be condemned..

Yes I think there is a general lack of respect for others nowadays but particularly for the elderly and disabled. Thanks for responding raijin.

I certainly think it's likely that he will be imprisoned anyway because it's been referred to a higher court in order for him to get a harsher sentence - which he absolutely deserves although I doubt it will do him any good. Thanks for responding joshboz

Whats wrong with some people? An abundant lack of shame, decency and character. Some people are warped because of general abandonment of common decency, and even more so because of what society has become. Youtube material huh? I think an even better Youtube video would be this guy getting kicked up one end of the A4 and down the other!

Yes that sounds like a fitting punishment to me. Unfortunately what's likely is that he'll get a couple of years in prison (if it's even that long) and it won't teach him any lessons.

well i am sure this response would be very old for you.however the discussion of your really touched me.i was just thinking that is this world really owrth of living anymore, when there are people like this in this world only.while commiting these kinds of mistakes do they not ever think that god is seeing them and definately they will be punished for their deeds in this life only.any punishment is too small for these kinds of people.

I know - it's difficult to think of a suitable punishment for that kind of behaviour.

People with disabilities are still subjects of abuse the world over. This mainly arises due to lack of awareness on disabiity issues. It is important that Disabled Peples Organizations need not to get tired of lobbying for respect and dignity of disabled people the world over.

I hadn't seen this in the news. I think there is too much of this unpleasentness going on these days. Sites like Youtube have to be made to take responsibility for things that their members do. This is not only disgusting, but completely degrading, I cannot understand why anyone would want to do this, if someone has taken ill, then people should try and help. For something like this I would give them at least 5 years hard labour in the jail, but probably that will infringe their human rights, and get off with a fine of less than £50. One of my pet hates is when things are given names like 'Happy Slapping' for physical assault (filmed by camera phone), 'Joy Riding' for car theft which often ends in a car accident sometimes fatally, 'Honour Killing' for dwonright murder of a relative, and a lot of other things which is designed to make it sound a lot better than it really is.

I think YouTube is an awful site and I agree sites like that should be held partially responsible for some of the stuff on there. My guess is this guy will get a year's prison at most - and really prison is so soft these days it won't do anything for him.

How about him cleaning all the toilets in the gaol with his hands? That would be a fitting punishment. If he wants to act like a creep, let others see what a creep he is. And what kind of people are there that thinks this is entertainment? This is some sick idea of what the world is coming to. You know I was thinking of torture, but there is a ruling in the Geneva Convention against that. So the cleaning the toilets, and maybe not being allowed to take a bath would also be a fitting punishment.

He has now been sentenced and the judge jailed him for three years. That's longer than I thought he would get but the truth is he will be out on parole in 18 months. I don't think 18 months in prison is a harsh enough punishment for him in the circumstances. Prison just isn't a tough enough place these days I'm afraid. Here's the link to the updated story http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/tees/7063366.stm I just can't believe that people would gather round watching and laughing and no-one had the decency to intervene. I agree with this poor woman's brother - the people that watched and did nothing are just as bad as this creep.

That's so vile and disgusting that it is hard to believe. He's completely lost any sense of human decency. To literally treat a fellow human being as if they are a toilet is as loathsome an act as I can imagine. He is devoid of a conscience and he deserves to be severely punished for his reprehensible actions. I think he should be locked up for at least 5 years. Maybe being locked up for a number of years will help him regain some semblance of decency. I wouldn't count on it, though.

Yes he deserves severe punishment although unfortunately I'm not sure it will be severe enough. Thanks for responding Hart57.

No excuse for the guy,as he had smoked Cannabis. And he must be straight away sent to jail and must be learn the lesson in a hard way as how to respect the elders, and especially how to treat the crippled people. Again i vote him and his friends for a Harsh punishment.

Yes I agree there are no excuses for what he did. The judge sentenced him to 3 years in jail which means he will get out on parole in 18 months. I'm not sure that's a tough enough punishment but let's hope he learns a lesson.

Well he was sent to prison for 3 years although he will probably be out in 18 months if he behaves himself. Somehow it doesn't really seem harsh enough to me.

I think he should be jailed. Perhaps when he is released, be made to do 6 months community work in a elderly center or nursing home...let him know how it feels to be elderly and helpless. Maybe he'd get more respect for them and ppl in general. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Hi Stiletto, this is really outrageous, and such a shameful beahiviour :/, and these people, all 3 of them should go to jail for at least a couple of years, and made working in there for free and without any payment for it, with no parole, and no free days or whatsoever. Unfortunately they will most probably punishe these pigs far less than they deserve, and they do not even deserve the name "pigs" as pigs have more common sense, and better behaviour than they displayed. I would get a heart attack if one of these were my son, and thanks God I wasn't there while it was happening or I dont really know what would have happened TheFortunes

Hi thefortunes, you would certainly hope their parents would be ashamed of them but there again I have to question what their upbringing has been like if they think it's ok to treat someone that way. Possibly their parents are as vile as they are. I agree that all 3 people should be in jail.

Thats just sick!!! He should be thrown in jail for a couple months!! Or no I know they could sentence him to a crap load of community service at a gravesite, or cleaning bed pans at a hospital!! Maybe them he'll have more respect for the dying!

At best I'm guessing he'll get a few months in prison but really I doubt if it will do him any good. Prison isn't much of a punishment these days - it's way too soft.
