I know that I am almost done. I have these 4 classes that I'm taking, 2 more, and then my 6 week internship, so why am I wakingup pin the morning dreading school? I want to quit.....McDonald's just seems so much easier at this point, you know? I knw, I know, suck it up, keep trecking forward, you will feel better once you are done and in the workforce! It is so hard to feel that way some days though, you know? How do you get over that burn out hump? How do you get back into the swing of things? What do you tell your sefl to keep going and not quit?

I hear you. Sometimes we are afraid of success, and quitting will bolster our idea that we won't amount to anything. It is very normal to get ourselves right up to the point of almost achieving a major success and then throwing the towel in. Is there anything else right now pulling you in another direction? I found that when I was in school I went to classes, I worked, and I was involved in extra activities. I was motivated to do a good job at work and keep my job. I can be a competitive person and got mentally roped in to trying to be key holder, or getting that little promotion when I should have just been clocking my time. If you do work also, is there a way that you can take a leave for a little while to really concentrate on school? Sometimes I find that the best medicine is not "going it alone." Can you look for a mentor that can help you with you? Sometimes making friends with someone who has been there really helps. Can you talk to an instructor? Or better yet, see if you can seek out someone who just graduated or is a graduate student who really HAS been there. Or if you are in a major that has a really specific order to their curriculm, even someone a year ahead of you could help. This person would really know what its like to be in your shoes and can see the benefit of continuing. Tell them that you need help staying motivated and would they meet with you to talk about it. maybe they would help you brainstorm ideas, but just being a sounding board/mentor would help. Sometimes parents are extremely supportive and even though they may really know what its like, its hard for us to believe them because we feel they did it "so long ago" that they can't relate.

I have a lot going on in my life besides school right now. I am heading into a nasty divorce, I have 3 children ages 8, 6, and 4, and I trying to finish school so I can work and support my children by myself. My soon to be ex is in Iraq right now and making my life a living hell. I know I need to finish.. I am SO CLOSE, and I am not afraid of finishing and accomplishing my goals, I want that more than anything, I think I am just so overwhelmed with everything that I want and NEED a break. I have been going non stop for 2 years now, and should have been done already, but screwed around for a sememster and now am pyaing for that one! Your response was very much like a counselor, and I very much appreciate it! thank you!

I think even though you have other obligations that I didn't anticipate, it rings true. There are many moms and dads in the exact same boat as you and could use the support. There may be a group of ladies whose husbands are overseas or you may wish to start one - i think you will find strong bonds that way. Put a post up in the student center, or ask around. They can help keep your eye on the ball in a unique way since they REALLY know everything you are going through. And who knows, maybe you can work it out where you can kidswap and rotate so you get a day to catch up

I know just how hard it can be sometimes to force yourself to get up in the morning when you really dont want to. I just keep telling myself over and over that if i dont, Im going to let down my mum and as thats the last thing i want to do, i get up and go to uni. Im rubbish at commitments if its just me involved but if i think im letting down someone i love, i forge ahead anyways and eventually the 'i cant be bothered' feeling goes away.

I definately know where you're coming from. I am almost done with my degree in education and it seems everyday it gets harder and harder to get up and going! Just keep in mind what you are there for, and you could even write down the top benefits you will receive when you finally finish and post it somewhere in your house.... Just remember you are almost done and you have already come so far!!!!! Good Luck!!
