Help, I have an 11 year old lab. For 12 days now, he had the poops. He went to the vet on Monday-no parasites or anything like that.
He has been eating boiled rice and chicken.
The vet gave him flagyl. I have also been giving him Imodium twice a day.
I am waiting for a call back from the vet.
Have you ever had this problem? Any suggestions?

I wish I could help. My little dog had diarrhea all last week. Finally she got over it on her own.
I was wondering if I could have given her something like Imodium. I'll try that next time. She seems to come down with the runs often.

If you have a little dog, check with your vet before giving Imodium. Denny is almost 75 pounds.
Too much imodium for a little guy could be bad.

The vet thinks he has a mal-absorbtion problem. He is 11 1/2 and a senior citizen. He took anti-biotics and flagyl and is on low residue dog food.
He is medication free for 3 days now and no poops.

I am glad your dog is better. It is so worrisome when they are sick. My little Lucy always gets constipated and it is always a big worry for me when she does. I always think she has a blockage and have paid a lot in vet bills to make sure she is only constipated. She is always eating everything she finds. But we love her so much. She is like a two year old the way she is always in to something.
