Have you ever taken a ride on a motorcycle?

I love riding on a motorcycle! There is nothing like the freedom you feel from the wind blowing in your face and being out on the open road. Of course the summer is the best time for it but I'm hoping I might get to have one more ride before the winter comes.
Most people are afraid to ride on them but I've haven't found anyone yet who wasn't an excellant driver. The majority are very courteous and don't do stupid things. Bikers have a bad reputation but I honestly never met one who was anything like we always hear about them. I'm sure their out there just like anyone else there are always the "bad apples" but just because a guy drives a motorcycle doesn't mean he's not a good driver or person.
Have you ever been a passenger or driver of a motorcycle?
If not...if you had the chance would you ride on one?

I'm a pretty adventurous girl but that's one thing I'm really not interested in. I'm 25 and from age 7 to present day I've been in about 10 car accidents. about 4 that totalled the car and were pretty serious. Fortunately, I survive mostly unharmed. But knowing what can happen in a CAR...it scares the heck out of me to imagine being on a motorcycle. Because you have NO metal to protect you, just a helmet. And that's not enough for me.
It's kind of silly to be scared of a simple "what if" type situation, but it's just something I'd like to not even think "what if" about.

You sound like my son's fiance'. She's been in more car accidents than I can count. It's not silly to be scared of a "what if" situation but as you well know...accidents can also happen in cars.

well yeah. Accidents can happen in a car... but like I said "knowing what can happen in a CAR...it scares the heck out of me to imagine being on a motorcycle. Because you have NO metal to protect you, just a helmet."
at least in a car you have airbags and you have seatbelts and you have metal! in a motorcycle, you hav a helmet. and let me also tell you that I actually witness a car accident that happened between a big rig truck and a motorcyle. It happened right in front of my house when I was about 14... i heard a noise and looked outside and it wasn't pretty.

There are a lot of female motorcycle riders on the road! The traffic experience will probably be scary at first...just be careful.

I had a 175 kawaski dirt bike and my ex-husband had a Honda Motorcyle. We belonged to a club of people that enjoyed Motorcycle riding on weekends. It was a lot of fun. However, Motorcycles are dangerous and one should be very careful when riding them.

My first "true love" had a bike. We went everywhere on it. I drove it a few times but mostly I was a passenger. I loved it.
Years later with my now boyfriend, he called me up and asked if I wanted to go on a bike ride. I went there in my new sexy jeans and sandals. It wasn't a motorcycle but a ATV and he took me in the woods and I got mud up to my knees. I was so disappointed. I really miss the feeling of being on the back of a bike holding on to a loved one feeling the wind on my face.

Oh no I'm scared of them and would never get on one. I have seen to many people hurt on them and then other drivers don't watch out for them

I think a lot of motorcycle accidents happen because of the car drivers. Especially now with everyone driving and using cell phones. I've never seen a biker on a cell phone...lol..

I have been on motor cycles a couple of times. I find them a bit scary. This is because accidents are so much higher with motorbikes.

I just read that motorcycles account for only 45% of vehicle accidents. I realize that is close but it's still less than cars. I would think it's because you won't see a biker with a cell phone to his ear.

I have been a passenger on a motorcycle. One of my friends loves his bike and regularly rides almost every day. He gets great gas mileage, which is good because he doesn't live near his work.

It is part of my daily life now, since hubby and I bought our motorcycle,he'll bring me and fetch me from the office with his motorcycle and I am beginning to get really used to it.
At first I was afraid too but as you ahve said accidents can happen anywhere. I always remind my husband though to drive carefully and we always see to it that we obey safety and traffic rules.
yes! motorcycle rocks!

I am not a motorcycle fan, ctry, but that is due to my fear. I'm even afraid of riding in cars, lol. I did go for a ride on one many years ago. It was only around my block, but I was scared witless. The driver was a very good one, but I was just too afraid to enjoy the ride. I ended up walking back to my house which was a short distance away.

Hi Ctrymuziklvr, my partner is a bike rider and owns 2 bikes himself, and I have been many times behind him, and enjoying a good ride :) There are bikers that you mentioned above in in The netherlands too, but my partner is part of a club with "normal guys", and all of them have families and jobs and are all great folks to mingle with and do rides around the country and abroad together, with 50 to 60 bikes.
Great doing it really and I miss it since we haven't done in the last year, both the bikes are broken, and it's such a pity really :/

I used to ride it land liked it a lot, also because of the freedom of the eyesight and convenience it brought me. However, Motorcycles are forbidden to be used in our city right now due to some people took use of the cycle to rob someone.

I am afraid to ride on a motorcycle. I have a feeling it will slip when turning curves. Even the driver is an excellent one.
I have always a fear of crashing. Motorcycle have the slightest safety features unlike cars. It always see motorcycle accidents and most of the time the driver or the passenger didn't make it to the hospital.
Sorry, but I rather ride on a car than on a motorcycle.

Yes,I like ride on a motorcyle very much.I've been a passenger of a motorcycle since I was a child. That's because motororcycle is an important vehicle in the small town I lived.Yet I didn't realize the joy of riding a motorcycle until I began to drive it.The automatic of it is quite satisfying.
