A Problem At Work (not works fault)

Well, when I started my job at the PetsHotel in PetSmart as a Nighttime Pet Care Specialist there were 4 people working overnights. Well, now, less than a month later one quits. And it was a lady I really liked working with. But she quit because she couldn't work as many days as they kept giving her.
Well, one of the other girls, Sam, was working with me the other night and she told me that the other remaining lady was talking about quiting because she did not think she would have to be so much work. She thought she would just be playing with the dogs all night, while maybe doing a little bit of laundry and dishes. But we get a list of things to do everynight (same list everynight) but with 2 people working on it, the whole list only takes 2-3 hours...we are there for 9 hours so that gives plenty of time to play with the dogs.
Well since that one lady quit, we each had to work a night alone, and still it only took me 4-5 hours to finish the whole list, so it wasn't that bad, working alone. Well Sam told me she thinks when the other lady finds out that she has to work alone, and do the whole list, she'll quit.
So pretty soon we might be down to 2 people working as Nighttime Pet Care Specialists! And then Sam told me that she HAS to quit at the end of October. I won't tell you her reasons, but it is a good reason. So I might be the only person they have hired on as a Nighttime person!
I know they might be able to get someone to give me a couple days off. I do need Thursdays off...so the Seniors at the hotel may be able to switch off every week to work a thursday for me. But I don't think I would mind working 5 or 6 days because..i'll get lots of overtime! PLus I might get a raise since I'm the only person they have! That'd be GREAT! hehe. But a lot of work...i'd probably get tired really fast.

Oh 30 days sorry. Man, I hope they let her go home before 30 DAYS was up! My gosh lol. It is nice that they housed her and fed her during a storm though.

She worked 30 hours STRAIGHT!?!?! You mean she never left the hotel for 30 hours??? My gosh! I hope she got a BIG raise! Thankfully something like that can't happen to me. Because other people come in at 6am so I always get to go home.

Hopefully they start staffing if it gets too rough for you Lily. It doesn't make sense just to have one person on hand, even if its a petsmart (no offence). Now then, if you do enjoy the work, then more power to you! I like my current job just fine myself! It feels more like a big hobby than a workagrind career most times.

Yeah well, one the other girls I work with just told me last night that both her and Sam put in their 2 weeks. She also said that the manager had some interviews, so hopely they get some people hired soon. But I do like my job.

As exciting as it sounds to get more money and a raise, I hope they don't burn you out. I would hate to see them use you. And if everyone else ends up quitting, and they DON'T give you a raise, well just call me and we'll go up there together and raise heck. ;)

LOL! Okay that sounds like a plan =P But, the managers of the Hotel are really nice, and I think they would be as easy as they could on me. Even if I had to work 5 or 6 days by myself they would do special favors for me. They are really good about taking care of their employees.

I suspect they are interviewing people right now to fill those positions. They can't expect someone to work every night and do the work of 2 people, its illegal. lets hope that you like the new people they hire

The manager is trying to find people, but she's having trouble. It's hard to find people that want to work 10pm-6am.
Actually the job was originally for 1 person to work on it on the nights they work. They just started it as 2 at our Hotel so we can take the dogs out. If you work alone on a night you can not go in the rooms with the dogs or take them out. So that's the only reason I hated working alone. I wanted to bring the dogs into the kitchen with me and stuff while I read. ( I read when I finish the work, I have a lot of extra time).
And the work isn't really that bad at all. It took me a little more than 4 hours...I took 2 fifteen minute breaks. It was fine, I didn't mind it at all.
