Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I personally believe my Gods speak to me. =P
It is true that people are usually more willing to believe in something that is old. I suppose actually things that have been passed down for centuries seem precious and important anyways, whether religious or not, just for having survived that long. So I could see why some people would only accept their religion old.
The other thing is that most people believe that their particular deity or deities created the Earth, and thus anything closer to that time is more likely to hold the original message given to mankind. Only of course each religion then pretends theirs is the oldest even when it's not. (My own religion isn't the oldest one either, so don't think I'm saying that.)

That's a really good question. My best answer is "people are stupid". But that's my answer to most things. *laughs*
I worry about getting put in the looney bin myself sometimes, because I honestly do believe my Gods speak to me. It's gotten me some weird reactions even from people in my own religion, which originally taught that! *sighs*

Hi lecanis, I agree with you that God/Gods speak when we listen and observe. My problem is why people think that it has to be true because it's old, while if someone said the same thing today, they would put them in the looney bin. Thanks for commenting my friend. Blessings.

God isn't silent, but he sent his son to bring to us the new law. I believe in "Ask and ye shall receive". To me, that means that if you ask for guidance from God, you will receive it. Simple as that. Maybe Moses just sincerely, with all his heart, asked for a sign from God and got it.

I agree... there must have been more that needed to be covered. But then, people who say they talk to God now are led gently into the rubber room!
Things have changed so much since biblical times, it would have been good
to have added a few more insights.

Hi alamode, My point exactly, how do we know but that some of those ancients should have been led into the rubber room? If it makes sense, I'll agree with it, whether the book was written this year or three thousand years ago. Thanks for commenting my friend. Blessings.

God always communicates with human beings. It is unfortunate that people now-a-days do not listen to Him. Most of the people remember Him only when they are in trouble. Some people think that God needs their protection, and protest on anything which they perceive is against their God. These people spread hate in the name of God. If human beings have listened to God and obeyed Him, the life would have been a pleasure.

I don't think the Creator ever stopped talking to us. We chose to stop listening a long time ago.
It's easier to believe some ancient nonsense than it is to open ourselves to listen now. If you are breathing you are connected to the source.

God is never silent. He speaks through to us and through us, if we are willing to hear His voice. Not in an audible sense. He gave us the earth and speaks through us in nature. Just looking at His creation prompts us to often think about what kind of a Being would be so awesome to think up all the wonderful things we have. Too bad man had to go and try to ruin it. But I guess that is where His mercy comes in, and I'm grateful He made that clear in the Bible. The Bible is just as relevant today as it was 2,000 years ago. Circumstances have changed, but not the people in them.

Because the scriptures are Myths that go back Thousands of years. They have been copied and changed, and recopied and changed yet again, over the centuries by Religious Orders who had an axe to grind. And grind it they did, All to the order of Power and Money for the Church. Look at the Pope sitting there in the Vatican midst priceless materials gathered over the centuries by war, theft, murder, and Pillage. If God spoke thousands of years ago, He is speaking today. The Pope claims to be infallible. In other words, Everything he says is absolutely Right. He is incapable of making a mistake! Isn't that utter nonsense? Who in their right mind couldn't rise above that one?

Hello there. I personally feel that God is still speaking to us. After Jesus ascended to Heaven, Father Lord sends us the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit speaks to us individually. The Holy Spirit only exists after the ascension of Jesus Christ.

Actually God is not silent today. I believe He still speaks to His chosen people. The reason why scriptures are seem to be old is that the things written there though written thousands of years ago are still applicable today as it was years when it was written. Of course God will not say again and again things which have been said a number of times already. I believe God is the same today as He was yesterday.
