for me, a cellphone kind doesn't matter. as long as i can text and call and the battery works for long hours, that is fine with me. my previous phone is a Nokia 6260 given by Smart for my subscription. now they gave me a new again, when i renewed my subscription and it is a Sony Ericson K610i. suits me fine because there is no moving parts.
just be contented with what you have. as long as it is working fine, don't worry. the people around you are not paying for your load anyway.:-)

It depends upon the user if he really needs an expensive phone. Like if he/she works and needs a mobile phone with an internet connection or something like that I think he/she needs an expensive phone.

Hi there. Personally I dont think anyone needs to have an expensive phone unless they want to use it for its other capabilities, such as email, video conferencing internet and more... Otherwise the simple and afordable cell phone is capable of doing basic txt messaging and simple phone calls...

i guess i would buy / upgrade my handphone on based on the necessity + the functions that come with it.
before it was just ok to have a phone that can simply recieve + make calls + send sms.
now, my phone also has camera - because i wanna pictures of my children at those funny moments - and bringing a camera along all the time is a bit impractical.
someone in my office has a 3G phone... which to me doesnt makes sense... since everyone he knows doesnt own a 3G, i wonder who does he have 'video conference' with....

Hi, i too have an old cell phone and its still going strong and i have never felt the need to buy another one.
Agreed that seeiong so many new ones coming up every day, one does feel like but if we re-think there is really no need to buy if your older phones alright and working well. Yes, people do tend to buy and i think they do so just for showing off to others or to show or keep a false impression upon others, and from within their hearts, am sure they know that they too dont require it, but just as their friends mayve brought it or maybe they felt that they must show it off being the latest in thing in the market and they have so much of excess money, so they go and buy it.
Yes, those who have extra and surplus money can even go all out and buy a new mobile every month, if they so wish, guess it all depends upon each ones personal choices, their natures and what kind of people they are, each one to their own i think, but its something that i would never do, till the need arises.

There are a lot of things in life that are not necessary. I imagine this is one of them. People go for them because they want them and feel they will get some worthwhile use out of the extra features.
My phone's several years old and doesn't have much outside of the standard mobile phone functions. I see ones with camera or Internet browsing, but it's not stuff that interest me.
