Have you ever forgotten to add a major ingredient when cooking?

I haven't done it thus far. But I was reminiscing with my mom the other day. She has done it twice that I"m aware of. Both times when she made cookies. The first time, she doubled the recipe...but forgot to double the flour. The second time she completely forgot about the flour. lol It was quite an experience I tell ya.

Once I made Rice Crispy treats, and for some reason halved the Rice Crispies. It was marshmallow overload, and made me feel sick.
Another time, I wanted to make chocolate chip cookies, but we lacked chocolate chips. It was during a sleepover while I was 13 or 14, and couldn't drive, so we made the batter without the chips, and we ate it raw.

My very first time I made pumpkin pie out of fresh pumpkin. I forgot to add sugar. Thank God I remembered as soon as I put it into the oven. I scooped it out and added sugar. I then refilled the pie crusts and baked. I had compliments on that pie. LOL

I have forgoteen to add flour to cookies before, doesn't make for a good cookie. But worse than that, I have forgotten to add the baking soda, which really doesn't make a good cookie. Both of these mistakes happened while I was a child, so I have learned from this. I feel that I have learned wisely to gather all ingredients and have them out and ready for measuring when I bake. I think for me, the big problem I have is when I want to make something and I am missing an ingredient, then I have to find the substitution. Like I went to make biscuits the other day. And as I know the recipe off the top of my head, I got everything into the bowl except the baking powder, which I couldn't find. Then I searched everywhere, figuring one of the kids moved it. Couldn't find it anywhere. Then I had to find the cookbook that lists substitutions. Thankfully, I had a good supply of cream of tartar and baking soda

No, at least not that much. Even if I do, I'm able to think of good substitutes to make up for it, but its a rare occurrence.

lol....I once made mac and cheese from a box and completely emptied the water and forgot to put milk in it! It ended up being tossed out because it was like glue. I never thought to put milk and nuke it.
