Do you ever use ground turkey instead of ground beef when making something?

My husband just bought some ground turkey and decided to try it out when making spaghetti sauce, instead of using ground beef like we usually do. We actually ended up liking the turkey meat a lot more than we like the hamburger meat in it. We're going to try it out with some other dishes, too. What about you? Do you ever use ground turkey instead of ground beef? Do you prefer it that way?

I actually do it all the time. I don't eat beef so I only use ground turkey for tacos, spaghetti sauce, lasagna and other dishes. I will sometimes use ground chicken as well, but not as often as ground turkey. Its such a leaner meat so it tends to be healthier for you.

Ground turkey and Turkey burgers is all my sister will get because she doesn't eat red meat. It is healthier and it has less fat and grease. Tastes way better in my opinion too and for that it is a little more expensive so I am not able to get it as I would like, but when I can I would take that over ground beef anyday. Turkey burgers cooked on a George Foreman are the best.

Oh yes. I do it when I am going to buy any meat, but my mom does it all the time. It's much more healthy, which makes it even better. I like to use it when I make tacos, as well as spaghetti. My dad was resistant to try it at first, but he loved it after that. If anyone likes it, it would be healthier over all to use it as a substitute. If not all the time, then at least occasionally, or when cooking for someone with health problems.

I do use ground Turkey with many things. It is much better for you. It is leaner than beef. and if you give it some seasoning you can get some good tasting turkey.

I've done it before. It wasn't that bad especially with seasoning. Pastas are actually pretty nice with it.

I uses ground turkey all the time in recipes. I never use beef, since I've stopped eating it. You can use turkey in virtually any recipe you would use ground beef in. One piece of advice: turkey meat is generally drier because it's lower in fat. In certain recipes, like meatloaf or burgers, you'll need to add something to make it moister. I use it all the time in spaghetti sauce. Also, other turkey products like turkey kielbasa are really good. Ground chicken works really well too in most recipes. It has a slightly different taste, although some grocery stores don't carry it.

I have tried it once...and really didn't like it. The part that really gets me is the smell that it (and ground chicken) has while it is cooking. The smell of my house for about 3 or 4 days after cooking the stuff just about made me sick. I seemed to be the only one affected though...so it's probably just my very sensitive nose.

We prefer turkey meat in everything except meatloaf. For some reason, it just tastes alot better than regular ground beef. I also like the texture of the ground turkey alot better. My favorite dish to put ground turkey in is chili.

Yes, I use ground turkey quite often. It is leaner than hamburger so you might have to butter your pan a little or it will stick when you are browning it. I hope you will try it in more recipes.

I love to use gr turkey. It is cheaper and better for you. We make some really good turkey burgers. Mix 1 lb gr turkey with some finely diced onion and red pepper. Add alittle minced garlic an egg and about 3/4 of a cup of shredded cheese(I have used cheddar, mozzerella, and pepperjack they were all good) Mix it all together and pan fry until juices run clear. You can eat them on or off a bun, either way they are really good.

Hi. tailsman. Yes, I have tried ground turkey before. It is so delicious! Very delicious! My aunt cooked had this lean turkey in her freezer. She had it in the freezer and she wanted me to cook it while I was at her house, while she was at work. It is very delicious! I told her that I am going to start cooking with turkey ground beef more often. It is very yummy! I plan to make many dishes using ground turkey.

I use them interchangeably now. I think ground turkey is healthier, and with the concerns about ground beef, I feel like it is a bit safer.

All the time actually. I prefer ground turkey or ground chicken over ground chuck (beef) anyday. I don't really eat red meat...when I do it's pretty much only ever ground chuck. Most of the time when I go to the store though I try to buy the turkey or chicken instead. I'll use it for everything. it's usually better for you and a lot of times it's also cheaper.

Hello talisman,
Ground turkey is leaner and much better for you than ground beef. There is a lot less ground up grizzle in it too. I prefer ground turkey over ground chicken.
I use ground turkey in almost anything that would be made with ground beef. Instead of ground beef for burgers, occasionally I will buy ground buffalo. It's much tastier than beef.
My favorite is meatballs made with ground turkey, seasoned real well and made in a meatball stew. Oh Yummy!!
Happy posting..

I did few times used turkey for our food. But I didn't do it often. I like ground chicken better than ground turkey. But for spaghetti sauce we always use ground beef.Never change with other meat, since it will change the taste in our opinion.
