There are some foods that taste better to me the next day after you made them, like lasagna to me taste better after you reheated, same with empanadas, beans, lentils...
What do you think?
Well it does not work for rice... I donot like reheated rice...
It is just me... tell me about your preferences!

There's definitely foods that taste nicer as the flavours mature and combine after one or two days.
I certainly find this with pasta dishes, such as Spaghetti, Lasagne and my more common pasta - penne with chicken, vegetable and a spicy tomato and herb sauce.
Everything has absorbed the flavour in time and it is often so much more satisfying.
There are also certain baked sweets and cakes that become more moist (or more dry) and tasty after a few days. Brownies for example.
=D
Certain rices taste nice the next day, I quite enjoy basmati reheated with some barbecue sauce. Mashed potato is better fresh, though, in my opinion.

Thanks alamode, sounds great =]
Not that I have any problem just reheating and remashing my potatoes with a little butter, I just prefer that particular dish fresh.
I might have to try out your suggestion, though.
Almost makes me want to make mash tonight =P

I love leftovers. It makes for great lunches to take to work the next day. (save on eating out and much healthier too!) I usually don't like to reheat for the next night's dinner. I don't know why in many cases things do taste better the next day. Maybe the flavor intensifies with time not sure. If you add a small amount of water to rice and microwave it tends not to be as crunchy. Usually if we bake a whole chicken we usually have left overs and we will use the chicken the next day or two to make chicken and noodles, or mix with rice and vegetables like a casserole, or chicken salad. If I have rice left over, i heat it up with some milk, sugar and cinnamon, good for dessert or breakfast next morning.

Leftover rice is a wonderful thing! I scramble a couple of eggs, set them aside, saute onions, peas and carrots, shredded cabbage... throw in the rice, stir-fry til hot, add a bit of soy sauce to color it and the eggs.
We have fried rice for dinner at least once a week. It so fast, and you can add any veg you like! A five-minute dinner!

I agree with Chilli. It definitely tastes better the second day! All the spices and flavours absorb into the meat, and it becomes just the right consistency.

Well one thing you can do to get that effect on the first day is to let the chili simmer for longer periods, stirring occasionally. That's what I do, especially if its "showtime"/for family cooking or if I have the time to kill. You can also brown the beef in the early going with most of the chili ingredients like the cumin, a bit of chili powder, garlic powder.

I don't like reheated rice either, it gets all hard, gross. I like lasagna and stuffed shells better the next day. Oh and flan is great if you let it chill for a day. I love turkey the next day too.

Usually its chili and pastas that are still good the next day. If you want to reheat rice, sprinkle a little water on it and heat it covered with a paper towel. This also helps french fries and potato wedges out a bit.

Well, i dont like reheated pizza on the next day... for me it loses its original taste... same goes for rice, unless it is being stir fried into a yang chow. i like sauces and marinade to stay over a period coz they develop their rich flavor.

i dont have a problem with left over foods. roasted pig tastes good as pinaksiw or stew, while our adobo becomes more delicious when it is reheated to become flakes. then of course, left over rice can become tasty fried rice! oh, i love food! no problem if they are leftovers. i will still eat them! :-)
