Well, I do know that at least in some parts of the states you can drink the water from the faucet. BUT, it's mixed with chlorine and other "stuff"... Now I'm wondering .... Can you drink "clear" water from your faucet? With "clear" I mean without chlorine or any additional substance which should not be in it... I guess I'm not really able to say what I really mean LOL. Have you ever been to europe? In most parts of europe the water tastes very different to what you get from your faucet. If you go to a restaurant, orange juice with water does taste different because there is no chlorine in it.. Whohoo.. this topic isnt that easy to make a question of it LOL.. (or a explanation about the why, what,... I mean..)

I live in Minnesota and my faucet water tastes very good inspite of the additives. I know many think that bottled water is the way to go and if I lived in the country where I was unsure of the water I would drink that, but they say that most of the time, the bottled water isn't regulated so your faucet water is actually safer. Most cities also test the water on a regular basis.

does the faucet water in minnesota have a high amount of chlorine in it? I guess that many people outside europe can drink water from the faucet but it has (a lot) of chlorine and other things in it... Yesterday there was a short documentary about water in europe on television. They said that there is no place on earth besides middle europe where water is so clean that they don't have to put chlorine in it..

We have clorine in it but you can't even tell we do. It tastes really good. When I was in Europe I didn't drink the water...and in Hawaii it stunk the minute you turned on the tap. But we do have good water here and it's safe.

I never think about whats in the water while drinking from a faucet. Because I figure if you drink from a water fountin at a big store and you get very sick you could easily sue them for a lot of money. Im sure they try there hardest to keep the water safe for drinking if not then they should shut it down untill it becomes safe to drink again,

When i was pregnant with my son (my first child) we were living up in rural victoria, Australia. It isn't safe to drink tap water up there, as it is mixed in wth sewerage or something so I bought bottled water, or boiled the tap water to drink. Unfortunately nobody had told me that I should replace the flouride that you find in tap water in my diet, to protect my teeth, and I have had all sorts of dental problems since then- and not one beforehand! We're back in suburbia now and I always drink tap water. Very rarely do I drink bottled water. And from six months of age up I made sur eto stop boiling my son's water and give him only tap water. It's amazing the difference fluoride makes to the strength of your teeth! And it's even more amazing how little people actually know about it. Just my experience, and opinion. I think it all comes down to location...

There are also some place in our country where we can drink water from the faucet. In fact in our province we can drink direct from the faucet and even from the spring itself. Its a place where water just come and it is so far the cleanest, as the place are all trees and there are no pollutants around. Also there are deepwells where tanks and faucet are connected and we can drink from the water from it. Here in the city, because of the pollutants and being more industrialized, we need to boil or buy bottled water so as to be safe. But still many are drinking from the faucet and yet they are still in the best health.

Back in Indonesia, you can't drink water from the faucet. You have to cook it first. Now I'm in Finland, the tap water does taste SO good and fresh. It feels like very pure spring water from the mountains or something. I LOVE the fact that I can drink tap water without bothering to cook it. Plus it tastes MUCH better than cooked water in Indonesia or even bottled water there.

I would go with bottled water most of the time. Much of the water bottled in plastic bottles though, have some chemicals leach into it from the plastic. Like Ozarka, you can actually taste the plastic. But if you get a quality bottled water you can manage to not get the chlorine and carcinogenic flouride that is in tap water.

yes, i can drink water straight from the tap here in australia in the past... but ever since we experience a drought and the government start using recycled water from our waste to battle the drought, i start to use water filter... otherwise, the water got some kind of taste and smell on it which i don't like...

I'm not that well-aware of waters in europe or in any other places because I live here in the Philippines. As for US, I believe we have the same water system here. Water needs a certain amount of chlorine to cleanse and relieve it from other harmful microbes, especially those deadly diseases.

I live on a military base and the water here isn't so bad to drink from the faucet, but I still have the habit of drinking bottled water. I did have well water and that water was pure and I could drink it from the tap, but I still used bottled water lol. I don't know why, it is just something that I have done for years since I lived in Florida. The tap water there is awful!

Here it's impossible that we will drink the water from the faucet directly because the standard isn't that good enough. Usually we will boil the water and then we can drink it.

Our water is full of chemicals to make it cleaner but we haven't drank water out of the tap in about 15 years or more. We've been buying our water. I should mention that at one point the water in this city had such a rotten smell, people complained and were told it's safe to use....fast forward a bunch of years and they find out the city has been pumping raw sewage into the lakes .... Safe to use! Yeah right!

Hello 19ewf84, Nowadays it is very hard to know when the water is good just by looking at it. Water that looks clear may very well not be very good for you. Depending where you live, you should be able to get water reports for your water. Isn't it amazing that years ago you drank water from the well and had really good fresh-tasting water. No one worried about poison or other contaminates in their water. But since contamination came along, no one feels safe even drinking water from their own city water. And who can blame them. As a personal preference, I do not drink tap water. I only drink bottled water. My preference is Dasani. I know other family members and friends of mine that prefer other brands. That is their choice. It is on of the few freedoms we do have these days. Happy posting..
