According to several dictionaires, some even online, the 't' is always silent. That's how I have always said it because that was what I was taught in my first couple years of English. Kind of like Illinois. You're not supposed to say the 's', but a lot of people do.

Thank you! My parents always spoke it with the "t" sound.

There are a lot of words that are lazily mis-pronunced. That does not mean that it is accurate. One of the ways to find out how a word is properly pronounced is to look it up online. AOL, has a dictionary that will tell you how to say the words the right way. The "T" should never be silent.

Well, English is nice language, but if its ur mother lanuguage(first language) then u might know true pronounciation but if its 2nd language then u might pronounce is wrong and i dont think so thats its big matter as far as u understand what other want to say
some people do pronounce "know" with :k" as well, but its OK
the point is to convey ur message, hey its only valid for daily interaction
if u r preparing for english course test then be accurate otherwise u might loose marks in verbal/spoken english,
lol
take care
