Neighbours House on Fire... Police found something!

Big excitement here today. I was on my way home from the vet, & turned into our street. I freaked, as I could see the firebrigade outside our house, & a lot of people standing on my front lawn. It was the neighbours opposite. The Police were there too. They approached me when I pulled over ( I couldn't get in the driveway), wanting to know if I was the owner. The house has $150,000 to $200,000 damage done to it by the fire. Whats more, the Police found something.... yep, a hyrophonics crop. It caused the fire. The Police were most concerned that the owner wouldn't turn up, & got me to ring my husband ( he's a Police officer). Anyway, the owner did eventually turn up. The CIB are there with him. There is no way his insurance is going to cover this. Hmmm....

You sure had a lot of excitement on your street. I would have fallen over to discover I was living near the "special" plants. When I was growing up one plant started growing in our plant nursery and when I came home from school told my mother had just seen that plant at school. We still don't know where the plant came from and couldn't believe how fast the plant grew, as it grew faster than the weeds.

Did the neighborhood report feeling an overwhelming sense of the munchies from all the fumes? :)

That was quite eventful. I bet your heart dropped when you turned onto your street. That was quite a big fire and the owner is going to end up costing the owner alot including trouble with the law! Glad your house was ok.

My heart certainly did stop when I turned in the street, with a fire engine out the front & all these people on my front lawn.

I'm answering this straight from my e-mail, so I can't see if you have already been asked, and answered this question. However, what is hyrophonics crop?

Hehe ups... What a bad way to get caught , but on top of a possible crime he might actually also go broke from it? Cant possibly be any worse lol. I really hope there was only material damage and no one got hurt at all.

Something similar happened around here, someone had a small grow room in a closet and the heat from the lights was enough to start the place on fire. The fire wasn't that bad, but now the the resident of the place will be facing charges.

Yes, they do not learn that these hyrophonic crops often cause fires.

Terrible that the house went up in flames. Illegal activities that caused the fire? Well, sorry that he won't be collecting on that one.

Yes, it was illegal activities that caused the fire, & no, he wont be collecting. He has now lost a $200,000 part of his house.

Well this may be good for the owner as he could have been there when the fire broke out. What is the CIB anyhow? Criminal Investigative Board? You're correct the insurance will not cover it if there's proof that this was the cause of the damage. Any illiegal activity will negate any contract along these lines. Glad noone was hurt anyhow. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

CIB are ther Dectectives. They stayed there a long time & talked to the owner when he eventually turned up. I am quite certain he wont get insurance. There's no around at his house this morning.

I don't understand why a hypdoponics crop would cause a fire. My son did one for a school science fail and we used no electricity for it at all. If it was in the basement of something, it was the grow-lights..which has nothing to do with hydroponics. I am sure the owner was not happy!

Not having seen a biggish hydrophonics crop before, I can't say exactly how they are set up. I do know that my neigbour had his in a bedroom. I also know it is common for illegal hydrophonics crops here to be caught out, because of a fire. My hubby ( a Police officer), said they do illegal (& unsafe) electrical wiring).

I am so sorry for the owner of that house. That seems to be a nice house. I think he needs to be careful next time with his things especially that he is doing things illegally.

Not many people here are sorry for him. It was his fault for doing something illegal in his house.

Oh my gosh! I bet you were scared when you turned and saw they were on your lawn! I bet the owner of the house is wishing that he hadn't been growing that crop, now. I certainly would not want to be in his shoes!

Good thing it didn't bring your house done. Fire is really devastating most of the time. You rather experience robbery 10 times than have your house totally eaten by fire. And good thing no one gets hurt. Insurance? Well, it is along process.

I am sure he will not get insurance. They will not pay out for a fire that was caused by illegal activities.
