I learned to play the flute when I was 10 years old and played all thru high school and here and there afterward. I haven't played much at all during the last 10 years but a few weeks ago I joined my community band and am really enjoying playing again to the point that I'd like to upgrade to a better flute. Gotta save up my My Lot pennies to do that though. Do you play an instrument? What instrument? When did you learn to play?

tenor saxophone - An elegant tenor saxophone is the easiest to play among the saxes.
The first instrument that I ever played was guitar before I even went to school but I didn't improve at all. I just know the most basic chords and I can't strum well enough. Then I learned how to play the lyre in our school band when I was in high school. Next I enrolled in a piano lesson and I did well. Then I played bamboo flute and I thought I wanted to learn how to play the real flute but it was not as easy as I thought so I gave up. My next target instrument is saxophone. I haven't tried it but I'm determined to and I hope to get one by the end of this year.

Erratum: Sorry it's not lyre, it's xylophone.

Lyre? What's that? Is it like a harp?

I took piano lessons when I was about 8 or 9, but I stopped when I was about 12 or 13. I didn't really enjoy playing that much back then. When I was around 14 I started playing electric guitar, as I was getting into Metal at that time and developed a real passion for music. A couple of years later I bought a synthesizer, and the piano lessons finally paid off ;) I never had lessons for the guitar. About the same time I started playing guitar, I also started practising screaming and growling, but as the years went by I got more interested in real singing, and I'm still developing my rock oriented singing voice. The last few years I've also developed a sincere interest for home recording and music production, and as part of this, I've gotten into programming as well, so I'm programming drum tracks and bass now as well.

"screaming and growling" Giggle. That just sounds so funny, sorry! I wish I could play the piano. I've tried to play it but it just confuses me trying to look at 2 lines of music at once. Too hard for my little brain to figure out.

It's hard to get to a level where you can read complicated music and play it straight away without knowing the piece really well. Try to memorize it bit by bit. If you manage to remember the movements of your hands, you're pretty much sorted and can just use the sheet to help you remember the structure.

Playing the flute was mandatory at my old school, mostly because there wasnt any other cheap options for instruments to play they could provide us all with. Some 8 years ago, I was in a horrible soccer accident that left me bedbound for months. I didnt have much to do, and on the 4th day, I browsed the sell adds in the paper, and decided to buy a guitar, I would have plenty of time to learn how to play a bit while bedbound. So I bought the guitar, went online and found some tabs and notes, and now I play the guitar pretty well because I was once bored :D

Well that's great! I mean, not that you got hurt. That sucks. But it's great that you took a bad situation and turned it into something really good and can now play the guitar! That's really great to hear.

Hi there Buggheart. Yes, I do play musical instruments.. Just like you, I can play the flute. It's really easy, isn't it? The notes are easy to memorize and all we have to do is blow and there goes sweet music. :) I can also play the guitar.. It is actually the musical instrument which I can play best. I have been learning how to play the guitar for 6 years already and I even want to learn more. First I started with the basics( the classic guitar ), then to acoustic guitar and now, I am trying to learn how to play and use electric. :) Lol.. Saving up your mylot earnings for buying a new flute ei.:) That's a nice goal. But I guess the earnings I have cannot buy me an electric guitar.. lol.. It's still okay. I have plenty of time to learn anyway. I hope you can buy your new flute soon.. Best of luck to you!

Good for you to have the chance to play it. Same here actually, when I was in grade 6 I am a flute member in our school. I used to play the bass because I’m one of the biggest that can handle it again. I stopped joining contests after grade school. I don’t get to join in a flute club in high school. Probably because I transferred school after grade school so I don’t get to know musical clubs in high school. I have a remembrance though from that experience. Our moderator gave us a soprano for free of course. And now, my niece is using it. She’s currently studying in the same school I had. She’s going to play Tenor as an upgrade skill I guess.

I started playing flute when I was 10 also. But after high school, I sold it and never thought about it again. When I was about 23 I started piano lessons, and have always had a keyboard or piano somewhere in the house. I've always loved music, but flute wasn't my first choice, it was what everyone decided I would play. Our 12 year old plays trombone and baritone in the school band, and my 7 year old is already asking what he can play when he reaches 10.

Hi! I play the piano, I started my lessons when I was about 9 and stuck with them till I was 19. Then I decided I had had enough of my piano and started violin lessons two years later. I still do that, though I have to search for a new teacher now, because I moved houses. About one and a half years ago I went into singing, first musicals, but then I turned to classical music. I really love singing! At the time I'm thinking about playing the piano a bit more often again, too. It's a bit of a waste never to touch it again.

I don't play a musical instrument, I love music, and love to sing. At one point in my life I was learning to play the piano, but it never amounted to anything, because I had to move so many times.

My parents had my sister and I take piano lessons all through elementary and middle school. I can play the piano, but I never do. I don't enjoy it. My sister loves it though, and she plays it all the time. She can also play the flute, and has won a national competition for it. It was like 12 years ago and I don't remember the name of it, but I do remember the runner up crying. : (

When I was about the same age, 10, I played the clarinet. I played in 5th grades through 8th grade. The high school that I went to did not really have a well established band and I did not want to be a part of that so I did not continue after 8th grade. I sold my clarinet at a pawn shop when I was in 9th grade and got myself a VCR in place of it. I can also play the keyboard/piano. Not well anymore. I'd love to one day own a grand piano and learn how to play well again. I have a keyboard, but I live in a small apartment so I don't really have a place for it to be honest, so it lives in my closet without much play :(

I've been singing since I was a kid. Took some lessons and all that. I also learned to play the saxophone in high school, which I loved. I'd love to get a sax and start playing again. I play a little piano, and I want to learn to play the guitar at some point.
