In Awe of Stupidity

I just ran across a couple of discussions where people in a far away land from the US are talking about 9/11 and Osama bin Laden. These people said bin Laden did not do the attacks and is completely innocent. They also went on to agree Israel was probably behind the attacks. I won't even get into what they said about the U.S. These people do not live in the Middle East. They live in a place that I am pretty sure does not repress the media to report the real news. Yet they think this way, and are making assumptions about a country they know nothing about. And if you read the discussion you'd see, they really know NOTHING about Americans. So tell me, is this stupidity confined to a few? Or do you run across this a lot?

As far as I know, Osama bin Laden took full credit for 9/11. So how could anyone in their right mind say that he is innocent. Some people have nothing worthwhile to say, they just speak to be heard. They do not realize that they can be very annoying. You know they say, "You can't fix stupid."

That's exactly what I posted, he admitted it for goodness sake. I just can't believe someone would be prejudice enough to blame it on Israel, and naive to call bin Laden innocent.

Ignore them my friend, we really cannot understand these typs of people since they are manipulated and motivated by their so-called beliefs!LoL I've ran across to a few of them before, but I'd rather report them instead of responding on their post. Though we can never be sure, I'd like to believe that most of these types of posts are just made to attract people's attentions for them to earn a few cents here. After all, we all know what the truth is and who's behind it. By the way, I'm a filipino and we have CNN, BBC and other international news networks to watch at!;)

CNN too? That's cool. They weren't from the Philippines though. From the sound of it I would really like to visit there.

Yep, I saw the post you're pertaining too. And I can't help but just laugh, I really wonder what came to their minds to post that topic though!;)

Let's wait and see if this member can provide solid proofs on these accusations of her/him, but I really doubt he/she'd even defend her/him topic rightfully..

The stupidity is not limited to just a few, it seems to be everywhere these days...and it is getting worse. Although I don't know for sure which discussion you are referring to, it doesn't matter because there are plenty of them to go around. There are even family members that have said things that I found appalling, and sometimes I can't help but wonder if the whole world isn't going crazy. When I see these posts I usually just go on by them, because there is really no point in even trying to reason with these people. Although I read a lot here every day, I don't answer nearly as many as I used to, frankly I don't need the added aggravation. I think stupidity should hurt...a lot. I just hope the stupid ones don't manage to take the rest of us with them.

In the over 1/2 cenury on this planet, I have learned one thing, stpidity knows no bounds. I have no idea who you are talking about, but I can tell you, there are Americans who believe that too. And these are not stupid uneducated people, one of them is a friend who graduated college at the age of 19. I don't understand it.

Sometimes people feel so much anger towards something, that they will gladly absolve someone of guilt if they acted on the anger no one else did. Even if they were wrong to do it.

Unfortunately, stupidity is a world wide epidemic. I am surrounded by idiots everyday! LOL I could never get over the fact that people would make assumptions about things they know nothing about. IT's like my dad always said (I really should write a book of all his great sayings LOL) "Don't talk about things you know nothing about, you may need that breath later." And so far he's been right.

I have run across it from time to time. Even in discussions by people who were (note I say were) on my friends list. The world is full of conspiratcy theories and hidden agendas. You have had the misfortune to run across more than your share.

One thing I cannot abide is trashing my country. I too have cut off a 'friend' for that.

From time to time, I find a really violent attack discussion about America, or Bush or some such thing. I'll go "WOW! and read on and realize they don't know one thing about what they are talking about. I'll check their profile and discover they are not from this country and just roll my eyes. No one who doesn't live here can know what's going on. Even we, with our liberal-slanted media, if we don't look for information in other places to fill in the gaps, won't know what's going on. When I find those discussions, I don't even bother to reply to them most of the time. It's difficult to argue with someone who thinks they know everything.

Yeah I have heard of that kind before but the thing is I haven't crossed that lot myself. I have heard about people who think that it was all Americas fault that 9/11 happened and it wasn't Osama who did it but it were some other enemy nation like Israel etc. Its shear stupidity. Any ways I don't think about such stupid people much. Take Care MAy GOD Bless YOU

In a sense, these sort of people know no better. It is very likely they were brought up in a country where the education, such as it is, was very biased & one sided. They don't even know how to think rationally, let alone freely. I know this isn't a genuine excuse for such ignorance, but it does happen in certain countries.

Hi AmbiePam, I am REALLY hoping that the people responsible for those posts are just trying to get peoples attention. I hope that they really don't believe that Osama bin Laden is innocent as even he has admitted his guilt! I don't see how anyone in their right mind would even want to try and stick up for someone responsible for so many deaths and tragedies. That really sickens me to all end.

I saw the conversation/discussion you're talking about...this is just a trouble maker here and doesn't know what the heck he's talking about--his information is so twisted and wrong it's laughable...think the poster just wanted to get a rise out of us folks. Of course one thing you do have to realize that many countries do distort on how the "news" is presented as part of their country's propoganda---can you imagine how the news is treated and "flavored" against us perhaps in the Middle East? We're not without fault too---our country will often tell it's version of the "facts" as well. Just dismiss the whole thing

In the Middle East yes, but I didn't think it was as repressed in the country he was from. There was another similar discussion by someone else. When I responded to the one you are talkinga bout, it was so obscure that the only people who had responded, agreed with him. Sad. But I do admit if things had been a little different today, I wouldn't have been as upset. Although, what the heck is mylot doing by not deleting it? The guy is accusing the Jews of killing thousands of people. I'd call that racism.

It'd seem that ignorance and bitterness have been the culprits of their distorted ramblings.

I for one hold a personnel interest in this. My son is in the process of being deployed back to Iraq for the second time. He leaves right after new years. I know for a fact that he hold BinLaden responsible and has said he would rather go to Afganistan(probably spelled wrong but it is late and I am tired)and look for him. I think anyone who thinks this man is innocent wouldn't know a rat if they saw one.

I think there are so many different perspectives on what has happened and what can happen that its pointless to even have a discussion about it.
