Blessings in disguise.

HUbby called about 10 minutes after he left for work this morning. He has a 50 mile drive one-way. The van was overheating and trying to die on him. While we were still on the phone it died and wouldn't start. So I called my dad to get me to go pick up hubby and see what could be done. Hubby had managed to get the van to a high school parking lot by then. We got some water from the school for the radiator, but it was pouring out from underneath the van as fast as it was being poured in. So we left it there, and came back home. Hubby borrowed our daughter's car and went to work in late. So I was all bummed out, because it seems its always something! But then hubby reminded me to count our blessings: He got stranded close to home. He got stranded at a place where he could get off the road and there was a building where people were who could offer us help (even though the water didn't do any good, we did borrow a flashlight!) He could have continued on down the road and something worse might have happened. My dad is an early rise and was available to help us out. Our daughter was able to lend us her car. So, I guess in the grand scheme of things, maybe the good Lord was watching out for him. But here is the clincher: I had to call a tow truck and give him the rest of our money for the week to get the van home. After the tow truck driver left the van at our house, I noticed something stuck down in the corner of my jeans pocket. Thinking it was an old grocery list, I pulled in out. No grocery list! It was a $20 bill. Thank you, Lord, for small favors.

It seems we blew out the water pump. He's debating whether to replace it himself or pay someone else to do it. If money wasn't so tight I'd happily take it to the repair shop for the convenience!

We got the water pump replaced the next Saturday--did the work ourselves. It went pretty smoothly except that Don removed the radiator hose before he realized it didn't need to come off at all! Getting the stupid thing back on was the hardest part of the job.

It is good to always try to look at the bright side of things. God is good and he does bless us. Remember the saying "Every cloud has a silver lining." Have a blessed week.

I felt the same way one time. I had just been on the throughway going 65 miles an hour (legal limit here) and then I went to a trailer park where 5 miles per hour was all you're supposed to do. My engine block fell down on the ground. At 5 mph, that was not a big deal, can you imagine what could have happened if I had had that happen at 65 miles per hour on the throughway? Scary isn't it? Glad everyone is OK and alright. Take care and yes, some things certainly are blessings in disguise. Please see my similar topic. Take care
