Do You Use Alka Selzer?

Alka Selzer - This is a picture of a medication that I felt like I could not function without, at one time. Thank God, I do not need it any more.

There was a time when I used Alka Selzer for everything from a stomach ache to allergies. I have not used Alka Selzer in over seven years. I do not know what happened, but I do not seem to need it any longer. So, what I am thinking is that I am now taking all of the medications that my body needs, so I do not need the fizz any longer. I remember when my nose would run and itch. My head would feel stuffy. I would feel cold and hot at the same time, I was just miserable, I would take the regular Alka Selzer and everything would be fine. Now I take Singulair and that works great. I also use to take Alka Selzer Plus Cold Nighttime. Sometimes I would take it because I had a cold and sometimes because I could not sleep. All I know is that within 20 minutes, I was knocked out. So do you take Alka Selzer, if so, what for?

I haven't taken Alka Seltzer in a long time either. I always tried to avoid having to take it anyway. My stomach honestly doesn't handle most liquid medications well. I always seem to gag or vomit. The last time I took Alka Seltzer was the flu kind and I threw it back up and vowed never to take it again! ha ha. I'm a wuss when it comes to taking medicine. I can take Pepto Bismal just fine, but nothing else. My husband can take anything and it doesn't bother him, except for Pepto. We're backwards.:P

I am with him. That pink, thick, toothpaste tasting stuff, that makes your pooh pooh black, does leave a lot to be desired. But I have nothing against taking it, when I need it, LOL.

I use it sometimes for colds but its good for pain relief and calming upset stomach. Its also nice not having to swallow pills.

I could never stand the taste of Alka Seltzer, even though I know I must have had worse things given to me. I remember having to take iron medicine as a child, a tablespoon of it per day, and it was much worse than Alka Seltzer. I should just get over it, but as long as there is something that works about the same for me as that, I'll take it instead. I know, I'm such a wimp.

I remember taking Alka Seltzer for the first time when I was a teenager. At first, I was scared. I had never seen anything like it before. After I realized how well it worked, I was hooked.

I have used Alka Seltzer in the past, but I don't have any in my medicine cupboard rightnow. I usually keep some of the generic liquid version of Nyquil on hand, it used to work the best, it would decongest and knock you out for a good nights sleep and usually I would be feeling so much better by the next day. But Alka Seltzer for me is best known as a tummy medicine that works great!

I could never stomach Alka Seltzer. I really hated taking it. The stuff really worked though! I just couldn't get past the fizzy nasty taste! My ex-husband swore by the stuff. He could just tip his glass and down it quickly, I couldn't. He took his for upset stomach and heartburn mostly. But it was also good for hangovers too!

For hangovers? I wish I had know that about 15 years ago. I have not been through very many things worse than a hangover. Have you ever tried the flavored Alka Seltzer?
