Parking too close

Hi everyone! Yesterday I spent the day running around from store to store. As some of you know I go to walmart to get my cat food and other products because its so much cheaper then the other stores. Well I came out of the store go to get in my car and the car next to me was parked soooo close I could hardly get in. I was furious. And scared that I was going to hit that car trying to backout. It took me forever to get out but I made it succesfully. Has this ever happen to you?

Yes, that has happened to me, several times, and it really makes me mad, when it does. I don't know why anybody would choose to park right on top of somebody like that. It almost makes me want to follow them when they leave, and do the same thing to them. Another thing that makes me mad, is when I come out of the store and there's a grocery cart pushed up against my car. That really makes me mad, and it happens so often. I have a decent car and I'd like it to stay that way.

Of course, they don't care about another ding on their car, or yours.

Hi Terry, and yes, such things happen here all of the time because the parking place per car is very small and barely enough...so yes, it happens often. And I can imkagine what you went through while trying to not damage your car as well as thecar of the other person. At times I think that they do that with purpose, to be able to give us fines and speck their wallets even more :/ (governments, munucipalities, etc)

Hi terryz,
I had this happen to me on several occasions. I finally decided to park further away from the store. I walk as far as the length of the parking lot. I do this for lots of reasons. The walk is good for my health, I don't have to worry as much about my car getting dings in the doors, and I seldom have someone else park so close to me that I have to crawl through the passenger door to get to the driver's side of my car.
It may seem like I am giving in to others, but actually I am trying to make the best of a bad situation by taking advantage of the benefits in it for me.
Happy posting..

I had a fake ticket that someone gave me. I never thought to use it until the day I went shopping and when I got to my car I couldn't get the door open to get in. I had to open the side door and climb over the console. As I had a dress on that day it wasn't an easy feat.
The ticket I had was similar to the one below:
Thanks for parking so close! Next time leave a f$%king can opener so I can get my car out!

Here is a link to check out the site where I found you can purchase fake tickets:

Oh Sweet I get that all the time so I normally end up climbing in on the Passenger Side which is not easy with my Leg at the moment
As I am able to park in Disability it hardly happens now but if they are not free and I have to park normal I get the Problem every time

I hate that! And there is no way of knowing when those people will come back. Once, a car was so close I had to get into the passenger seat of my car to climb into the driver's seat. It took me about 20 back up, pull forward moves before I pulled out without incident.

The last time this happened to me was when it was last winter. It was still cold and I had just the baby with me (born in November so a very little baby). Some teenage boys parked their car so close to the passenger side of the van that I couldn't get between with the baby's car seat. It was to cold to stand out there and wait for them but I also couldn't wedge the seat in through the driver's door past the steering wheel with the baby in it, SO...I had to take him out of the seat, toss that in while still holding him and trying to keep the blankets over him, then climb up in myself without squashing him against the steering wheel! (and of course just about the time I finally got him and the seat strapped back in the boys came out of the store!)

Hi TerryZ,
Yes, I have had this problem quite a few times actually and it is very maddening! It always makes me wonder how they got in and out of their car without dinging my car! Have a good day!

Hi Terry... Yes I've had that happen to me a few times and yes it's so irritating. I'm not a bean pole so it's next to impossible to get into my car when some jerk parks too close. I try my best to take every one else into consideration when I park so as they have room too. Not every one else is as considerate. I'd leave a note on the car telling them to next time leave me a can opener so I can get into my car! LOL

Even though I'm against them this is one reason to like the giant sea of asphalt parking lots associated with establishments like that. I just park further away from the cars and away from the cart returns. No one parks near me. No carts are near me. I can get out easy. I don't mind the walk either. In fact its just more physical activity I can put in a day.

A long time ago, before I had a licence or much driving experience, I offered to wash the car of some nuns. I finished the job and drove the car into the garage only to discover I had gone in crookedly. I attempted to reverse to straighten up but only succeeded in wedging it in tighter.....I couldn't get it out. I'm ashamed to say I left it like that without telling anyone. It must have been ok though because nothing was said and they let me keep washing the car.

Yes that happens to me more often then I care to think about. It is soooo annoying. Especially when dealing with a child still in a car seat. People who are just oblivous to those situations are a pet peeve of mine.

Yes it has happened to me, and it drives me crazy. I have a two door car, and my doors are VERY heavy. So it's hard to hold the door open without bumping the car beside me, while trying to squeze out of the one foot opening that they've left for me.
I also find that sometimes people park crooked, so they can still get out of their car door, but I can't get out of mine (because my doors are bigger, and set further back on my car).
I usually pull of the spot cursing those people!
Whenever I park somewhere, I check both sides of my vehicle to ensure that I parked in the center of the space, maximizing clearance for people beside me to get in and out of their cars. I wish other people would do the same :)
